(Today’s article is part of a One-Week series on “How To Get Fit – The Right Way!”:
Quick Fact
First we thought as an intro to our article today we would give you a quick fact to marinate on for a minute. And just think about this for a couple seconds before reading on.
FACT: Every golf pro on Tour has custom fit golf clubs to fit their swing.
Please re-read the previous sentence out loud to yourself.
Now we could write a novel on the all the reasons why you should be custom fit…but isn’t that enough incentive for you already. I mean think about it…do you think a pro would ever just go to a store and buy a club off the wall or snag a deal off EBAY and tee off with it at the Masters? Well maybe…but not if he had any plans of winning he wouldn’t. So why do we?
Listen golf is hard enough…don’t make it harder then it needs to be by using the wrong equipment. Like we said yesterday…without properly fits clubs, no golfer will ever reach his optimal performance level in this game.
14 Drivers & 5 Years Later
For the most part golfers have similar problems with their equipment that needs fixing. But most of us come to the solution in the wrong manner. We tend to think that if something new comes out…then it will magically fix our swing. And the higher the price tag on the equipment…the better our swing will be. But 14 drivers and 5 years later we still find ourself averaging around 250 off the tee and hitting 6 fairways a round.
Just One Can Ruin Your Game
Some of you are thinking “well you are right for the most part…but I feel like the driver I have now is better then any I have ever owned.” And you might be right…but…even if that is true the chances of it being the optimal driver for you are slim. That’s because all that has to be wrong is one of the following variables:
- Club Head Style
- Shaft Flex
- Shaft Length
- Shaft Flex
- Clubhead Lie
- Loft
- Grip Size
- etc.
If even one of these is off it could be killing your game. And we are not talking yards we’re talking strokes. All it takes is a couple drives a few yards further in the woods, one or two wedge shots that sail over the green, a pitching wedge you had to choke down on because you don’t own a Gap Wedge and your talking 5-6 strokes easy…every round. All because you didn’t spend a couple hours getting properly fit. I mean golfers spend countless hours at the range every season…so why don’t they take the time to go get fit? I have thought about this for years…and the best answer I can come up with is that the must really enjoy tormenting themselves. Remember, any custom fitting is better than none at all! So before making an investment on another club we hope you seriously consider going to get fit for a set.
Where Do I Go?
Like we mentioned in the past few days…there are lots of incredible options out there for you to choose from. And we really do feel that there hasn’t been another time in the history of golf that allowed for you to get as accurate and as precise of a custom fitting as you can today. So go take advantage of it.

I am scheduled to go to Golf fusion in Jupiter fla. All my buddys think I am nuts to spend so much money for fitting and possible all new clubs. I am worried it is just a slick sales pitch AGAIN. I am on the cusp of breaking 80 regularly and I need that extra thing; I hope this is it.
