Club fitting on a launch monitor is paramount. Don’t poo poo technology, get a reputable club fitter and learn to improve your swing. Then refinance your home and get a set of PXG’s. Been play golf for 50 years and these PXG irons have made golf fun again. Bill.

I didn’t get fitted for a driver, but I used the mizuno shaft optimizer and then used the golfworks catalog to find an appropriate driver shaft using my preferred iron shaft as a guide. Combined with a new Cobra F8+ head, it was a monster. The combination it provided was excellent and a significant improvement in distance (roughly 20 yards) and accuracy (roughly 30%) from my R1 with my 7M3 after market shaft. I guess I could have tried to find a custom fitter, but given my location here in Arkansas, there just isn’t anyone I really trust around here. I tried one place but they were pushing product off on me rather than actually trying to find a good combo for me.

Agree that a proper fitting is the way to go, if they have sufficient amount of various shafts/heads to fit you with… Have seen a few alleged fitting centers where they only have a few selections & are more interested in pushing what they have on hand; not to mention an apparent lack of interest in the whole process – only providing a low effort to get enother one in and out the door…

Wasn’t planning on buying a new driver this year due to all the expensive price tags. Hit several drivers and was really impressed by the Tommy Armour Atomic even though it was $400. I really wanted the Ping G 410 but it was over $500. Then Golf Galaxy dropped the price in half for the Atomic at $199,traded in an old Ping G30. Walked out with the Atomic for $130 and have been really impressed with the distance and accuracy. Winner?️‍♀️

Thanks for this survey. It helped me give voice to several things I feel very strongly about. I was fitted for my previous driver, the TaylorMade 2016 M2, and in 2018, I went back to the fitter as I felt I was nolonger getting optimal distance. We Re-shafted it, and it was a monster. I did side by side auditions with lots of different drivers this year, and still that “Fitted M2” witth “Fitted Shaft blew the doors off of all the competition with their stock shafts. I tried many an M4 and they consistently came up shorter. Finally, in the “Pre-Owned Bin” I found an M4 that had been fitted with an after market shat with similar specs to mine. Finally there was a club that was longer than mine by about 8-10 yards, and more consistent in ball direction.
Get fitted! Gert fitted for both Shaft and Driver! That was the only M4 I had hit , and I had hit many, that whooped up on my 3 year old driver. My 2016 M2 was even keeping up with the brand new M6’s….. Whether the OEM’s will admit it or not, most of them are obviously still cutting corners with “Made-For” shafts. With COR maxed out at .830 and the new MOI limit of 6,000 just about maxed as far as the head goes, the shaft matters now more than ever.
Get fitted. The right shaft could extend the life of our driver for several seasons.

Drivers. I an a 5 Handicap and I play a Callaway Epic pro. I believe that it doesn’t really matter what brand you play as long as you get fitted for proper shaft and loft.. Shaft by far is the most important aspect of driving a golf ball.

Callaway Epic Pro driver huh? You better hang on to that one of a kind for sure. Sounds Taylormade for you and only you.
