7 Things to Know Before You Buy the Callaway Elyte Driver

The Callaway Elyte drivers are the latest addition to Callaway’s lineup. Whether you upgrade your driver every year or you’ve decided that 2025 is the year to make a change in your current equipment, here are seven key things to know about the new Callaway Elyte before making your purchase.

The shaping is different

The Callaway Elyte drivers feature a completely redesigned shape. Callaway addressed airflow issues near the hosel and rear section to help increase clubhead speed.

The Elyte has 1.3 mph more clubhead speed and 2.1 mph more ball speed than the Paradym Ai Smoke. Increased distance without sacrificing forgiveness is a positive.

3D printing was used to fine-tune performance

Callaway is known for using AI to elevate their equipment but with the new Elyte models, they also incorporated advanced 3D-printing technology to push performance further.

During development, Callaway created 75 prototypes of the Elyte driver model. That’s a big leap from the typical four or five prototypes they have created in the past.

Why does this matter to you as a golfer? This rapid prototyping allowed engineers to fine-tune performance with precision. The drivers in this series are optimized to work for a wide range of players.

The Thermoforged Carbon Crown is a new addition

With this Callaway Elyte series we see the introduction of the Thermoforged Carbon Crown. The idea here is a weight savings and lower center of gravity designed to reduce spin and boost speed.

The new Thermoforged Carbon Crown is also a precision-molded material that helps eliminate inconsistencies when compared to traditional manufacturing methods.

10X AI Face Technology with 25,000 control points

The Elyte drivers feature an updated AI-designed face with 25,000 control points. What are control points? Think of the driver face as a grid. Each intersection of the grid is a control point. At each of those control points, Callaway can fine-tune the thickness and response of that area of the face.

The Elyte features 16 times more control points than the previous generation. The goal is to tighten dispersion patterns by ensuring consistent speed and spin across the entire face. For golfers, this should mean straighter shots and greater distance consistency. We will be examining this in our 2025 Best Golf Driver Testing.

Four models to choose from

There are four Callaway Elyte drivers to choose from. Make sure you are testing/considering the one that is the best fit for your game.

ModelWho It’s For
ElyteGolfers seeking a balanced driver with adjustable weights for different shot shapes.
Elyte XGolfers needing help with a slice or those looking for a versatile draw-biased option.
Elyte Max FastGolfers aiming to increase clubhead speed with a lightweight design.
Elyte Triple DiamondBetter players seeking lower spin, tighter dispersion and a more compact design.

Big claims from Callaway regarding these “Elyte” advancements

Callaway claims the advancements in aerodynamics from the Paradym Ai Smoke to the Elyte are equivalent to five to six years of traditional driver development.

That’s a big deal which may warrant a test drive on this club.

Pricing and availability

The Callaway Elyte, Elyte X, and Elyte Max Fast drivers are priced at $599.99 while the Elyte Triple Diamond comes in at $649.99.

Pre-sale starts Jan. 17 with full retail availability beginning Jan. 24.

Bonus Tip: Don’t forget about the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke

If you’re not ready to jump into the Elyte lineup, the Paradym Ai Smoke driver is now discounted to $499.99 from $599.99. It remains a solid performer and the Triple Diamond model was one of the top performers in 2024.

Callaway preowned sent me an ELYTE driver, and it had a weird sound when you struck the ball. It had a very odd sound, and it seemed sneakily short. I have a Ping G400 that I can fly past the ELYTE by 20 yards. Was very disappointed.
