“Most Impressive Golf Company For 2009?!”

One Great Product After Another

I have to say that out of all the major golf club companies of late…I think Adams Golf is impressing us the most. They just continue to bring out one great product after another and so many impressive prototypes it could make a golf ho’s head spin.

Barney Adams the previous owner of Adams Golf established a great name for the company when he brought out the Tight Lies back in the 90’s. And the new guys that have taken over at Adams Golf since Barney’s semi-retirement have continued the carry on the name and also take it to a whole new level!

Prototypes, Prototypes…and more Prototypes!

Adams Golf is taking full advantage of today’s technological advances…which allows for a much quicker product development times from idea to implementation. They are putting prototypes in almost anybody’s hands that wants to try them. And they are trying to almost make a different proto for every type of golfer on the planet. So as a golfer you cannot ask for much more then that from a golf company.

Here are a couple of their latest prototypes floating around not only the tour but also on EBAY. If you ever wanted to get your hands on some Tour Issue gear that has been in the hands of some of the greatest PGA players look no further then EBAY. There are tons of them to choose from on there.

My name is Adam Beach. This place, this site, it’s more than just a business to me, it truly is an expression of who I am and what I believe in, down to my core. I feel the work I do is a reflection of who I am and the idea behind the work I do is more important than the work itself. You see, I don’t actually see myself in the golf business at all, I am in the business of caring. I am a guy who wakes up with one goal: do the right thing.

Nice! I like the look of that hybrid prototype. I never really dug the square look of the Pro Gold boxer hybrids, so the rounder features of the club above looks a lot more appealing to me. Those wedges are pretty cool looking too. It’s a smart move by Adams to bring in a name like Puglielli to brand their wedges (like Vokey with titleist). If Adams could come out with a truly popular driver, I think more weekend golfers would start taking Adams more seriously. Taylor Made, Titleist, and Callaway still dominate the bags of the younger players at the courses I play at.

Love the look of the hybrids in particular – always been a 2/3 iron man but know I have to wake up and smell the roses sometime so I giving my old hybrid another airing this season. Living in Japan, Adams products are seeping into the market and their association with Tom Watson goes down well. The thing I love is that they hit some great price points and produce a great product.

Agrees my 9015 is one of the longest driver’s I have ever hit. It’s fighting with my FS3 for the No1 driver spot in my bag. The Adams RPM is my 3 wood and I don’t see that leaving anytime soon. Some of the new protos are the best I have seen in a hybrid, and I hate hybrids, I prefer woods. Not too mention the irons, I’d love a set of the new black A4’s or new Puggelli blades. The blades they made for Baddelley are pretty damn awesome as well.
Bring it on Adams. If I lived in the US i’d be buying shares in them, seems to be a company that can only go up. They just need to buy someone for the putter market.

I like the looks of these Puglielli wedges. The Adams Tom Watson PVD wedge series always appealed to the eye and they were good for the budget too.

I have never been able to hit a Hybrid for some reason. I think part of it is that I have never liked the look of them when I’m looking down at the club and ball. But their wedges are quite good and comparable to Vokey if you ask me. The nice thing too, is that their prices are not outragous. Maybe it’s just my area, but I don’t see many Adams clubs with the people I’ve played with and being on an amateur local tour – I find that hard to beliece since the tour is flighted based on handicap. When I think Adams golf I think Hybrids – I believe they have the corner market on them and the people I do know that have them LOVE them.

I have had a substitution issue with hybrids too (hybriphobia). I learned the old fashioned way with long irons in the bag and did quite well with them. When hybrid became the rage, I jumped in and purchased an Adams Idea i-wood 17 degree to replace my 3 iron. After using it, I replaced my 5 wood and put my 3 iron back in the bag. I just had more control and workability with my long irons, even though the sweet spot was the size of a pea. Obviously, Adams does make a great product and has a loyal following. It might be a different story if I took up golf about 20 years later than I did.

Thanks BogeyThis, how much dough for the tour issue R7 + amatuer autogragh? LOL

Burnz…I thought of something else this weekend too when I played with some people with hybrids (granted I didn’t care for the individuals much), but to me it’s like a cheap way out. I know the makers do this to appease to all levels of golfers and I guess when I see someone in their early 30s playing hybrids all I can think of is that they didn’t spend the time learning the long irons. I grew up in the non-technology era of golf, so I had to learn to hit blades at an early age and persimon woods (I played a persimon 5 wood until about 6 years ago b/c I could control it). Again, just my opinion…Please don’t take offense if you like to play them or play them often.

Club is $5, Autograph = PRICELESS! LOL

No offense taken… I agree with your observation whole heartedly. In my opinion, golfers miss out if they never learn to hit the long irons. There is nothing like hitting a 2 iron on the screws, with the perfect amount of draw or fade.

I assume you are still carrying that 2 iron and also hitting that 250cc persimmon wood along with the forged blades that allow you to work the ball both ways. Why do you think the pros are playing 2 irons anymore? More and more pros are adding hybrids and using new technology.

I think the point I was trying to make was, that mid-high handicappers today don’t have to work through the drudgery of learning to hit the long irons, whether that is good for the game, I can not say. Nothing like going through a couple of buckets of balls at the range with a 2 iron and only having a handful of good shots to show. I am not Ian McCallister, but I do have an appreciation for the history of the game and its implements. My persimmons have been retired to the attic and I do carry a hybrid in the bag. Tiger has said if were golf ruled by him, it would be all

Who is selling tour issue stuff on ebay? The tour pros themselves, tour vans, or distant relatives? It is great the average Joe can land tour issue equipment, but don’t shoppers have to beware? Nice to know it is out there on the market though. Might as well get an autograph with the purchase.

I really like both prototypes. The hybrid is much smaller than the normal hybrids released by Adams. I would love to give that hybrid a go and see how it preforms. Adams offers some of the best hybrids on the market today.

The wedges are awesome as well. These wedges spin the crap out of the ball. I like the fact that they are bringing out a black version as chrome is not for everyone.

I actually designed a hybrid that looked almost exaclty like this about 5 years ago for Al Geiberger. I love the look of both the bybrid and the wedge…and their 9015D is still my favorite driver for ’09.

Are you serious you designed a hybrid for Al Geiberger? Do you work for any of the big named OEM’s now? Or are you a freelancer. just curious.I’ve always been intrested in building irons or putters as I’m a plumber by trade. I’m really pretty damn good with a torch. Master plumber at 21. The youngest in Phila, Pa. Passed my Journeymans test when I was 16, also youngest in Philly. I’m pretty good with a torch and can weld with the best of them.I’ve beem assembling sets of irons , woods for my buddies for years. I want to get my license (CCM)so i can start a side business when I retire from plumbing. Sorry to get side tracked but when you mentioned designing clubs I couldn’t help but just think of one of my passions. I like the adams Tour a2’s but their basically cast TM 300’s. The new blade looks intresting with the movable weight.
