Amazon Finds: Outdoor Master Golf Travel Bag

Who doesn’t enjoy traveling for golf? Getting the opportunity to explore new golf courses, take part in new experiences and create  memories that will last a lifetime. As much fun as the trip and experience can be, there are potential hiccups along the way that can derail that journey. In this Amazon Finds, we will explore a critical piece of travel equipment—the travel bag. It’s a key piece of equipment to protect your beloved gear and ensure you can enjoy your travel experience to the fullest extent.

The Problem

We have seen the videos and heard the nightmare stories about golfers traveling and their clubs not arriving but what is worse is when the golf clubs do arrive and are in pieces. Of course, there are common tips and tricks to help protect golf clubs in a travel bag but it can still happen. Having a quality travel bag is essential for any golfer but can the more affordable golf travel bag from OutdoorMaster be the best combination of price and protection?

The Solution

The OutdoorMaster Golf Travel Bag aims to be the solution for golfers who want to spend less than $75 and still get a quality bag that will protect their clubs and bag. It has all the basic features and comes in several different colors. It is Amazon’s Choice Top Overall Pick for golf travel bags. Finally, the OutdoorMaster travel bag has received high praise from other users with a star rating of 4.6 out of 5 from over 2,400 reviews.

How I Found It

With an upcoming trip and an older, well-worn travel bag that has seen a lot of miles put on it, it was time to look for a replacement. As I wasn’t sure how much travel I would be doing after this next trip, spending a fortune on a travel bag was out of the picture. So, off to Amazon to see what options there were. It was pretty clear that this OutdoorMaster Travel Bag was the go-to option on their site. I had to wait just a few days before its arrival.

How It Works (Or Doesn’t)

My main big trip isn’t until the end of May but I had a couple of small trips where I put the bag to good use. The packaging it came in was alarmingly small. I was concerned it wouldn’t hold everything I wanted it to or have the padding I would look for in a golf travel bag.

OutdoorMaster Travel Bag Features

There is a good layer of padding all around, providing adequate protection for your golf bag and clubs. It has two reinforced wheels, which have a fantastic roll and glide. There are also bottom skid bars which  add structure and stability to the bag.

On each side are two medium-sized pockets for clothing, golf balls, shoes or whatever else you want to put in. The zippers are of good quality and are easy to use without any sticking or difficulty.

Also included are two outside straps built in to make everything snug and secure once packed. Then, some smaller details. A name tag holder for identification, a larger strap for over-the-shoulder carrying, top and bottom neoprene handles and inside shoe pocket all make for a very well-rounded golf travel bag.

Carrying Capacity

This is the one area that I am on the fence about. While there is plenty of room for all the basics, there is not a lot of extra room, especially if you plan to bring a cart bag. Stand bags definitely are the better bag to use, but not a deal-breaker either way.

Here is what I managed to pack into the bag for my most recent trip.

A good haul for sure. For longer trips, I typically remove the heads of my driver and fairways and put them in their headcovers with socks for some added protection.

Protection

Compared to my previous bag, this does offer a bit more protection even if it is a bit smaller. The one feature it is missing that I wish it had was internal strapping for the golf bag, but the outer ones will do.

Durability

The materials and overall build quality are very good, especially for the price. I have a preference for soft-shell travel covers as I find them more usable with appropriate durability versus hard shells. Hard-shell travel bags can be more restrictive or bulky and there is the concern of cracking from mishandling.

Final Verdict

While not all of these Amazon Finds live up to the hype, this one does. My only minor complaint is the space. I do wish it was a little bit bigger to offer a bit more room for the other things I normally like to pack. That said, I was still able to pack all that I needed to or was required to for my journey.

The quality of components to go along with the overall feel and protection the travel bag offers is great value for the money. It does all of this without being too large, bulky or heavy.

My final grade for the OutdoorMaster travel bag aligns with those reviews on Amazon. It definitely deserves the 4.6 out of 5 stars. I  recommend it for anyone shopping for a reasonably priced travel bag that will protect their golf clubs and equipment on their next golfing adventure.

Any issues with weight under 50 pounds? Do you think a cart bag would fit? Thanks.

No, I didn’t have any issues with keeping it under weight.

Cart bag would fit, but bit a very tight squeeze. Probably not something I would overly recommend.

I have a Sun Mountain C-130 Cart bag and it fits nicely not tight at all. Plus the outer side pouches are nice size I am actually thinking of a couple of sweaters or jackets to take up some room in the top area.

From the pics the zippers don’t look like heavy duty. Fear they would rip open with airline luggage handlers.

Certainly not as heavy duty as some. That said I’ve done two trips to other continents so far with no issues!

That travel bag looks good and well built. Great review, I may look into one as I have a trip coming up in early September.

Prefer a hybrid with plastic top to protect upper section of clubs. Fabric section then folds inside hard top for compact storage. Also need a brace (cutoff hockey stick, expandable pole) to prevent shafts being compressed.
If you have a fabric-only bag place a paint bucket over the top of the golf bag (inside the travel bag) for more protection than just some padding.
Hope you didn’t put your launch monitor in your bag for a trip involving a flight – yikes!!
