Another Day, Another Limited-Edition Drop: Cleveland Goes Retro

I hate to sound like a broken record (actually, I love it. Just ask the Mrs.), but Limited Edition Season rocks.

I mean, if Led Zeppelin and AC/DC formed a supergroup, it couldn’t rock any harder.

Today, Cleveland Golf is turning the amp up to 11 with its new, limited-edition Retro Collection, with gear inspired by the year 1979 when Roger Cleveland established his eponymous company.

So, whether you were a Highway to Hell headbanger or wore out the grooves on In Through The Out Door back in the day, the fact that you’re reading this means you’re a golfer now. So let’s take a gander at the new Cleveland Golf Retro Collection, shall we?

Rockin’ the limited edition, 1979 style

As far as limited-edition releases go, half of the Cleveland Golf Retro Collection is more elevator music than heavy metal. The golf caps feature Roger Cleveland’s famous signature and the only thing that sets them apart from a contemporary Cleveland Golf hat is the lack of any Srixon branding. The navy-blue microfiber towel is nice but unexciting.

They’re kind of like the warm-up band. They’re fine but we came to jam with Jimmy on the Immigrant Song.

There’s also a Cleveland-branded wide-brimmed straw hat. Not my cup of Kashmir but it’s OK.

Things really pick up, however, with the retro Cleveland-branded Jones Sunday bag. I’m a big fan of Jones bags and with its premium cream-and-navy colorway, it brings the T.N.T.

It’s dynamite.

And for those about to rock, there’s also a Cleveland-logoed wooden groove brush to keep your Cleveland wedges nice and clean.

“These pieces feel authentic to who we are,” says James Fodera, Cleveland’s Creative Brand Director. “Simple, functional and built for golfers who appreciate the history behind the brand.”

Cleveland Golf Retro Collection: Price and availability

If you’re looking for dirty deeds done dirt cheap, you’ll find the Cleveland Golf Retro Collection priced, for the most part, reasonably well. The caps are $29.99 while the Cleveland straw hat is $39.99. The towel is priced fine at $34.99 and the Retro Sunday Jones bag is attractive at $199.99. One could balk at $49.99 for the wooden groove brush but that depends on what you do for money, honey.

OK, that’s it. I’ll show myself out now.

The limited-edition Cleveland Golf Retro Collection is available starting today at select retailers and online.

I’m down with you on Zeppelin and AC/DC but this bag looks cheaper and with less substantial materials than the Mackenzie and Penfold bags they strive to imitate. I do love the wooden club brush however.

Sam Snead could make that straw hat look cool.

Both Led Zeppelin and AC/DC are up there in rock legend history!
