Bron Does Golf: James Makes YouTube Golf Debut

Well, I never thought I would write this sentence:

LeBron James—yes, that LeBron James—joined Bob Does Sports for a four-man scramble.

Is this real life?

It was about five months ago in November 2025 when James randomly tweeted he has recently become obsessed with YouTube golf videos. Since then, LeBron has tweeted about golf multiple times. Of his original tweets over the past few months, about half of them are golf-related.

He shouted out Full Swing for putting a simulator setup in his house; made fun of Grant Horvat for eating tuna out of a can with a fork; and told the world he would never play Oakmont after watching the Major Cut series with the Bryan Bros. and Horvat.

Then came a Nike commercial featuring LeBron and Tom Kim. The two were shown on the driving range showing off the Nike Powerbeats Pro 2, “the ultimate fitness earbuds.”

It turns out anyone can become obsessed with YouTube golf.

Highlights from LeBron joining Bob Does Sports

I am not a huge NBA follower outside of being a bandwagon Miami Heat fan (and even those memories are a little hazy), so I came into the video fairly blind. I’m a massive sports fan but don’t know a ton about LeBron personality-wise. My general impressions have always been negative for whatever reason. I guess I always assumed he was egotistical and brash.

But I have to say this is up there for my favorite YouTube golf videos of 2026. And LeBron comes off very likable during this collab (in-season!) with Bob Does.

LeBron said he had “never even thought about golf until eight months ago.” He told himself that he wanted to turn 40 and then get into a hobby he would be “sorry at” (and golf definitely qualifies).

After his Los Angeles Lakers teammate Austin Reaves helped push James into golf, he went down a YouTube golf rabbit hole with the Bryan Bros., Horvat and then Bob Does Sports.

James is honestly not that bad for someone who just took up the game less than a year ago. There’s a lot of work to be done but I bet a person as athletic as LeBron could start making better contact with a summer’s worth of golf.

Golf aside, LeBron seemed pretty chill and was telling tons of stories during the nine-hole scramble.

  • When talking about the monotony of playing NBA games, he gave a scathing (and hilarious) dismissal of the city of Memphis and said the team should move to Nashville. He said the Grizzlies only chance to get him was back in the draft lottery. Even then, he “might have pulled an Eli Manning” and refused to play for them.
  • James said he rarely indulges in fast food at this point in his life but does have a few food-related vices. Chocolate chip cookies with ice cream? Yes. In the debate of pancakes vs. French toast, LeBron is on team pancake. And if he had to crush a lot of one food? Give him tacos.
  • I would never have guessed this but LeBron gave a vulnerable (and unsolicited) take on his famous “Decision” way back in the day when he left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Heat. James was crucified for making that move a huge spectacle but his explanation of the why behind that move and how it was portrayed left me feeling sympathetic. He basically explained that he was young and had never moved away from home before. It was time to do something different. He made a dumb mistake with “The Decision” spectacle and regretted that he let the media paint him into a villain. It ate him up his first year in Miami.
  • LeBron’s golf obsession runs deep. He’s definitely been bitten by the bug. He said he watched the entire Internet Invitational and even had opinions on some of the controversy in the event.

I’m missing a few other notes, but you should really watch the video.

It’s so fascinating how a world-class athlete can be dominant in one sport and then totally lost on the golf course. If this was football or baseball or some other sport, he would figure things out on pure athleticism. Golf? There is way more nuance than that.

And just like us, he’s totally addicted.

Is LeBron a good dude? I have no idea. But he crushed it in his YouTube golf debut.
