Cadillac Championship: Power Rankings, Gambling Odds And Favorite Bets

For each PGA Tour event, we’ll rank the top 10 players in likelihood of winning based on a weighted model, form and course fit. Along the way, we will highlight some of our favorite bets.

This week, the Tour heads back to Florida for the Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral.

How the model works

The weighted model this week over the last 24 rounds is 25% SG: Off the Tee, 20% SG Approach, 15% SG: Total (High Water Hazard Courses), 10% SG: Putting (Bermuda), 10% SG: Around the Green, 10% Greens in Regulation % and 10% Scoring Opps from 201+ yards.

10. Sudarshan Yellamaraju (+10500, +1350, +550)

Model rank: 4^th

Yellamaraju finally had a poor result at Harbour Town after more than a month of impressive play. He’ll head back to Florida this week, where he posted his best result. Doral appears to be a good fit for the surprise rookie, as he’s been very strong off the tee and enjoys Bermuda greens. Ranks 7^th in SG: OTT.

9. Patrick Cantlay (+2600, +410, +186)

Model rank: 11^th

It was another great week tee-to-green for Cantlay at Harbour Town, but he just can’t figure out the flat stick. The ball striking seems to be fully back and strong enough for Cantlay to ascend back to one of the best players in the game. He lost over four strokes on the greens in his T8 at Harbour Town, so if he can be closer to field average, he could be a factor at Doral. Ranks 2^nd in SG: ARG.

8. Adam Scott (+3900, +590, +265)

Model rank: 8^th

Scott isn’t too unlike Cantlay. The Aussie is hitting it wonderfully after a T21 in Houston and T24 at the Masters, but his putter has completely let him down. Scott has gained with his irons in every single start this year and still has tons of distance to compete at a course like Doral. He’s also a much better fit for a tough scoring week. Ranks 2^nd in SG: APP.

7. Si Woo Kim (+2700, +430, +192)

Model rank: 20^th

After a minor slump following his incredible start to the year, Kim got it back on track at Harbour Town with a 3^rd place finish despite not having his best with the irons. It was a very encouraging start with the putter warming up and a great driving display. That recipe will work at Doral, especially if his approach play returns to usual form. Ranks 8^th in SG: OTT.

6. Chris Gotterup (+2800, +475, +220)

Model rank: 12^th

Gotterup continues to play solid golf while often making his first start on some of the Tour’s toughest courses. Doral truly seems like a perfect course fit for him from afar. His piercing, low drives should present plenty of distance while also keeping him out of a lot of trouble, a bit like he did at Waialae. Ranks 14^th in SG: P (Bermuda).

5. Collin Morikawa (+1950, +330, +154)

Model rank: 3^rd

What an impressive couple of weeks for Morikawa at the Masters and Harbour Town despite clearly struggling a bit physically. A week off may help that issue, but Doral is also certainly not the course you want to be at if you can’t fully commit to your tee shots on the 7,770-yard course. The game looks like it’s in great shape, so it should all depend on the health. Ranks 1^st in SG: APP.

4. Tommy Fleetwood (+2400, +390, +176)

Model rank: 6^th

Fleetwood lost the plot a bit on the weekend at the Masters and Harbour Town, but it seems likely he’ll bounce back. The Englishman tends to play some great golf in Florida and loves a stern test like Doral should present. The irons need to get better, but Fleetwood continues to check all the boxes with one of the most balanced games on Tour. Ranks 10^th in SG: OTT.

3. Russell Henley (+2700, +415, +186)

Model rank: 5^th

Henley surprisingly struggled a bit at Harbour Town with his irons just a week after gaining nearly 10 shots on the field on approach at the Masters. The rest of his game was steady enough again, and while the irons have been a bit volatile, you can depend on Henley being in the mix when he’s bringing his usual game. Doral should be a nice fit due to all of the fairways he can find. Ranks 8^th in SG: P (Bermuda).

2. Cameron Young (+1250, +230, +110)

Model rank: 1^st

Young had a nightmare on the greens at Harbour Town after his tough defeat at the Masters. Otherwise, there was little letdown as the world No. 4 continues to hit the ball incredibly well along with showcasing a much-improved short game. Young really checks all of the boxes this week and grades out extremely well across all of the categories we’re looking for. Ranks 1^st in SG: OTT.

1. Scottie Scheffler (+310, -146, -310)

Model rank: 2^nd

That is now back-to-back runner ups for Scheffler after some golf media completely overreacted to some middling play through the Florida Swing. The ball striking is returning to form, and Scheffler’s putting also continues to look really solid. There’s no player in golf you’d rather have at a course that figures to strongly test the field, so I can’t imagine putting anyone else ahead of him this week. Ranks 1^st in SG: ARG.
