Getting off the tee with a straight shot that doesn’t take a turn toward the trees is a huge win for most golfers. Many players spend their entire careers battling a slice, never quite mastering how to straighten out their drives. While swing adjustments must be part of the solution, the driver in your hands does matter. If you’re curious about what to look for in drivers that help with slice, we’ve got you covered. We’ve also included a few of our favorite drivers to fix a slice from our 2024 testing.
How to choose drivers that help with slice

There are a few key features to look for in a driver that helps with a slice: consistency, forgiveness, adjustability, draw bias and loft.
Look for consistency (or, as we call it, forgiveness)
When we test drivers, we look at how consistently they produce similar shot outcomes. Do you hit one down the middle 250 yards but then your next drive is just 175 yards? The best golf drivers for slicers are capable of producing similar shot outcomes.
Even if that shot outcome is a fade, you’ll want to know that it fades the same amount each time.
If you are actively looking to correct your slice, having a consistent driver will help.
MOI is not as important as it sounds
At some point, the golf world decided that MOI was going to be used to measure how forgiving a golf club was. Through testing, we have found that MOI is just a number.
Drivers with high MOI tend to offer better ball speed on off-center hits but they are not necessarily built to help you hit straighter shots.
Choose a driver based on consistency in performance and accuracy over the measurement of MOI in the clubhead.
Adjustability is important but be careful
It’s 2024, so the driver you choose to help your slice should be adjustable. Adjustability in the driver makes it easier to get a custom fit and optimal performance from your club.
However, we found that moveable weights sometimes cause more problems than they solve.
The movable weights reduce spin and, while a reduction in spin can help straighten out your slice, it can create other issues.
Moveable weights can aid in shot shape but we found something like the Mizuno ST-G helped provide a more gradual approach to spin reduction. It lets you dial in your shot shape correction without creating other issues with a lack of spin.
Built-in draw bias helps close the face
You don’t have to limit yourself to draw biased drivers just to fix a slice. However, there are some good ones worth trying. The built-in draw bias will help you minimize side spin and close the face a little faster.
Is draw bias in a driver enough to fix an extreme slice?
Probably not.
However, having this technology in your hands should help you straighten things out.
Higher loft is a good option
Higher-lofted drivers can help promote a higher, straighter launch. Slicers should look for drivers with a slightly higher loft in the 10.5- to 12-degree range.
Your driver should be adjustable in loft but make sure you purchase something that gives you the ability to add a bit more and get over 10.5 degrees.
Best drivers that help with slice
Golfers who slice should go for a golf fitting. Testing different clubs to determine which one is easiest to hit straight is the best way to find the right club for your game.
However, here are a few that we tested that stood out as good options for slicers.
Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max D

The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max D took third place overall in our 2024 Best Golf Driver testing. Many draw-biased drivers struggle with distance performance. The Paradym Ai Smoke Max D stood out with a distance score of 9.4/10 and the best overall performance in the test.
The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max D was among the best drivers we tested for keeping the ball on the left side of the golf course (for right=handers).
Mizuno ST-G

The Mizuno ST-G is our favorite Mizuno driver we have tested to date. Its sliding weight provides a gradual approach to spin reduction. If you are experimenting with reducing your slice using your driver’s adjustability, the Mizuno is a great choice.
The Mizuno also had very consistent forgiveness and accuracy scores, making it a well-rounded choice.
PING G430 SFT

The PING G430 SFT is another draw-bias option with a very high forgiveness rating. It finished third overall in the forgiveness category and had a high accuracy ranking as well.
The PING G430 SFT struggled a bit with distance but that can be the case when drivers are rated higher in forgiveness and accuracy. PING drivers did really well in our 2024 testing. If you’re a slicer, give this one a try.
Final thoughts
To find the best drivers that help with slice, look for consistency, adjustability and enough loft to add a bit of forgiveness. Always go for a driver fitting so you can find a club that perfectly matches the needs of your game. One last thing to remember: if you give up a few yards to hit a straight shot, it’s well worth the yards.
