Just Dropped: FootJoy Traditions Blucher

FootJoy has just revamped their popular Traditions golf shoe. The FootJoy Traditions Blucher is, as the name suggests, built like a Blucher shoe rather than the typical saddle-style Traditions.

But what the heck is a Blucher?

In short, it’s a dress shoe built with a single piece of leather for the vamp. It also features an open lacing system (if you need an example of a closed lacing system, look at the FJ Wilcox).

It’s often used interchangeably with “Derby”.

FootJoy Traditions Blucher

However you spin it, the new FootJoy Traditions Blucher is a clean, stylish addition to FJ’s lineup of golf shoes. Keep in mind that the changes here are purely cosmetic. The same lightweight foam midsole and Fast Twist 3.0 cleat system with Pulsar spikes are still here to ensure top-notch performance.

Think of this new(ish) shoe as a fraternal twin to the classic FJ Traditions. It may look a little different, but it’s still a Traditions golf shoe through and through.

You can snag a pair now in three different colors.

Well once again I am reading every article on golf shoes. Neglected are the walking shoes that helps eliminate foot pain such as Morton neuroma, neuropathy, and planters fasciitis. I am a seventy year old that likes to walk eighteen but am only able to hobble through nine. So how about talking about comfort, support, wide toe boxes and perhaps a shoe that would be recommended by a podiatrist. I am not concerned with fashion or price more than I am about making it through eighteen without pain. How about it?

Looks nice, but I still wish they would bring back the ICON model. They did something with the fit when they went from ICON to Premiere/Tradition. Somehow the side of the shoe got lower and narrower. Doesn’t work at all for people like me who need orthopedic insoles with a lot of support. The ICON was the best shoe ever. The ProSL is also a good fit but the spikeless sole is rubbish. Wears out in half a year while the shoe would have lasted 2 years.
