Good Good Sweeps Putts Into The Hole With The New Odyssey Broomstick

Are you thinking about getting a broomstick putter but want one with a little pizazz? Odyssey is here for you. The brand-new Odyssey Good Good Ai-ONE Square 2 Square Jailbird Broomstick putter is both long in name and in shaft.

Additionally, this 48-inch behemoth features some unique Good Good flavor, including a custom laser-etched sole plate, light-blue split grip with the Good Good logo and a Good Good-inspired Jailbird headcover.

Fans of Good Good will appreciate that the Odyssey Good Good Ai-ONE Square 2 Square Jailbird Broomstick putter has the same $399.99 price as the stock version.

Making the broomstick a boomstick

The Good Good aesthetics make the putter cool but the putt-making parts are pure Odyssey. Let’s take a look at the key components of the Odyssey Good Good Ai-ONE Square 2 Square Jailbird Broomstick putter.

Versa alignment

Odyssey’s black-and-white Versa alignment stripes put the jail in Jailbird. The series of alternating lines sit perpendicular to your target line.

Just return that stack of lines square to your ball at impact and you should be rolling on target.

Square 2 Square hosel

Speaking of square at impact, the Odyssey Good Good Ai-ONE Square 2 Square Jailbird Broomstick putter is a zero-torque design. The shaft enters the putter head at the center of gravity which eliminates rotation around the shaft during the swing.

If you are not interested in a broomstick putter, Odyssey also offers the Square 2 Square models in 38-inch counterbalanced lengths and standard lengths as well.

Ai-ONE insert

Since it is in its second year of existence, it would be easy to overlook the Ai-ONE insert. That would be a mistake. The Ai-ONE insert is one of the key elements of any Odyssey putter these days.

The artificial intelligence-designed insert is a combination of White Hot urethane polymer on the hitting surface and an aluminum under layer. Its whole purpose is to eliminate distance variation across the face.

The fact that it has continued on for a second product cycle speaks volumes as to how effective (and popular) the Ai-ONE insert has been with professional and amateur golfers.

Longest of long shafts

The SL180 shaft on the Odyssey Good Good Ai-ONE Square 2 Square Jailbird Broomstick putter is long. It’s also heavy at 180 grams. In fact, the whole putter is a bit of a beast once you factor in the weight of the double grip and 450-gram head.

Good thing you’ll be using two hands to swing it (and I had better not see it pressing into the middle of your shirt).

OK Broomer?

As far as special putter releases go, this is a good one from Odyssey. It has the same price as the stock Odyssey Ai-ONE Square 2 Square Jailbird Broomstick putter and added value for Good Good fans.

If you are a long putter and/or Good Good lover, does this putter move the needle for you?

Actually, I’m more curious about the origin stories for our readers who use long putters. Why did you start using the long putter?

Did you have the y*ps with a shorter putter and the long putter cured them? Perhaps you just wanted a putter that was longer than your driver (useful for taking a club length or two of relief).

Regardless, I’m curious to hear about why you made the switch to a long putter and how it’s going.

I ordered one of these. I was amazed watching Minjee Lee make absolutely everything last week with her broom, so I am giving this a try.

Since you asked, I’ve been using the AI-1 #7 broomstick for about 10 months. And yes, I decided to try it because of yips on short putts with the conventional putter. I’m in my early 50’s and have struggled off and on with yips since my 30’s. For me the yips were never a constant thing. I’d go through periods where I was fine, but then they would come back again. This last time I just got fed up and bought my current putter off the shelf. Eventually I had it shortened from 48″ to 46″. I still need to get the bottom grip lowered just haven’t gotten around to it. Right now I cannot imagine ever going back to conventional. The broom has made me rock solid on the sort ones, I have better speed control, and I make more long ones as well. Of course, this is still golf we’re talking about. I still make mistakes and still have 3-putt greens, but overall there is no comparison.
