Here’s How Much The Best Drivers Of 2025 Have Depreciated

We’re used to the usual stats when it comes to drivers: distance, accuracy, consistency, forgiveness. However, one aspect we don’t focus on as much is depreciation. With drivers costing several hundred dollars, it’s an area you might want to pay attention to.

Depreciation, in the simplest of terms, is how much value something loses over time. If you’re purchasing a brand-new driver and investing hundreds, you want it to retain as much of its original value as possible when you eventually sell it or trade it in.

On the flip side, if you’re purchasing a used driver, higher depreciation can mean you save a significant amount purchasing it used versus brand new.

We took a look at how much the price changed in 2025 for new versus used drivers, specifically with the models that made the Best Drivers of 2025 list. After comparing the cost of the used ones found online with 2nd Swing, you may be surprised at what the numbers reveal.

Depreciation rates for the best drivers of 2025

Model2025 brand-new pricing2025 used condition pricing*Depreciation
Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond$649.99$461.9929%
PING G430 MAX 10K$599$428.9928%
PING G440 LST$599$527.9912%
Tour Edge Exotics E725$399.99$287.9928%
Titleist GT2$649.99$549.9915%
PXG Black Ops 0311 Tour$649$446.9931%

Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond

The overall pick for Best Driver of 2025 was the Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond. The $649 retail price is similar to other top brands, but its 29-percent depreciation over the year was one of the highest changes in value on our list. That means you can score a great deal if you can find a used one in top condition.

PING G430 MAX 10K

The PING G430 MAX 10K offers plenty of features for those who want it all with their driver: distance, forgiveness, feel, good looks. If you’re buying it brand-new, be sure to consider the 28-percent depreciation value when it’s time for a trade-in.

PING G440 LST

PING G440 LST driver review

The PING G440 was MyGolfSpy’s third overall pick for Best Driver, thanks to its consistent shots and ball speed delta. However, it makes its mark as the lowest depreciation value in 2025 among our list. It proves it holds its value well but you might not be able to find the bargain you were hoping for with a used version.

Tour Edge Exotics E725

Tour Edge Exotics E725 driver review

The Tour Edge Exotics E725 earned the Best for Distance accolade among the tested drivers in 2025 and it also comes in as the least expensive option. Even though it’s about one-third less expensive brand-new versus the others, it still had one of the higher depreciation rates we found.

Titleist GT2

Titleist GT280 review

The Titleist GT2 comes in hot in 2025 as the winner of the Best for Distance, earning the highest marks for both carry and total distance. It’s one of the more expensive options as a brand-new purchase but you may take comfort knowing it has one of the lowest depreciation values.

PXG Black Ops 0311 Tour

With its high scores for forgiveness, including consistent carry distance, the PXG Black Ops 0311 Tour outshines many others tested in 2025. It also earns the distinction of having the highest depreciation value on this list which means a lower trade-in value in the future or a great deal on a used one right now.

I’d like to make a plug for Callaway Pre-owned. Good prices, service and quality clubs. Saved me a bundle over the years. Can’t tell the difference between brand new and used.

I second the idea of going to the Cally Preowned site. As a senior golfer, I’m really not interested in shelling out the insane prices for brand-new equipment. I’ve purchased many clubs from CPO and have been impressed with the quality and condition of their offerings, making a purchase a wise decision. Many people do not know that CPO also sells other brands besides Callaway. I check their site regularly and find their prices very competitive with ebay but far more reliable for quality and condition.

I echo all the experienced golfers who comment on the high quality and great prices on the Callaway Pre-owned website. There are great bargains on clubs that when you receive them, you cannot distinguish differences from a brand new club. Only negative I have ever had with their site is I sometimes tend to lock in on a specific club and watch daily for further discounts. Discounts will sometimes vary from 15% to 35% but price shown on site remains the same. Still the quality and unbeatable customer service personnel remains the absolute best and I have been a loyal customer of Callaway Pre-owned for years. They’re Great !!!

I bagged a Paradym 7 wood from them for £135 UK and it was in pristine condition. They regularly have sales so plenty of bargains to be had.

A little misleading when one considers the value of time-in-use. Yes the Triple-Diamond was $699 when released last winter. But as of Dec 29, it is $549 brand new at the Callaway site, and as you say, $461 used. So buying used versus new TODAY only saves one $90.

So it really depends on when you bought new and how much service you got out of it in order to make a good cost-benefit evaluation.

If your clubs aren’t part of the big 4 brands, you’ll always get less for them when you try to sell them or forced to pay a higher price if you’re in the buying market.
If you’re buying something, you’ll always can get great deals on Cobra, PXG , Srixon, and Wilson. Just do your homework and try them out at a shop that carries used clubs.

New vs. used is an awful comparison. It’s useless. In fact, the numbers you are showing tell the story that used is still pretty expensive in comparison. I’d expect about 40% or more depreciation on an item that’s a tool.

I haven’t bought a “new” golf club in years, when you can go on websites like 2ND swing and buy “Mint” condition clubs or Callaway Pre-Owned “Very Good” clubs far below new club prices just months after they are released new. Many of which haven’t even sled the original shipping plastic.
I have sold some used clubs to people who offered me more then I paid for them, I guess some people are willing to pay more when there no waiting involve.

I got a great deal on my G440 LST head (new Limited Edition 7.5° version… head only), and almost 100% paid for it by selling my GT2 head at a price so close to what I paid for it that it was a little crazy…However, I’ve seen sales lately that indicate that I could get almost 100% of what I paid for my Ping were I interested in selling it.

Who cares? No one buys golf clubs as investments, they are a tool to be used.
