How Maxfli Optimized Its Golf Bag Lineup

It’s a thing of beauty when a golf retailer takes hard-earned feedback and decides there are things worth optimizing.

This feels like the bare minimum but you’d be surprised how often brands skip opportunities to optimize throughout their product line. Our goal at MyGolfSpy is to test every bit of gear we can get our hands on, give it a fair shot under the same conditions as its competitors, and then provide feedback for golfers and OEMs alike.

One brand has done an incredible job at this recently: Maxfli with their current stand bag lineup.

Maxfli took feedback from a number of different sources, applied those findings to optimize their current bag lineup, and I’m here to show you the changes they made, and how they got there.

Current bag lineup

Maxfli has three stand bags that have been put to the test:

• Maxfli Modern Classic Stand Bag
  The Maxfli Modern Classic Stand Bag is Maxfli’s premium option, offering durability, weather-resistant construction and enough storage to satisfy a hoarder.
  
• Maxfli Honors 14-Way Stand Bag
  The Maxfli Honors 14-Way Stand Bag features three full-length dividers, insulated cooler pockets and various storage features.
  
• Maxfli Air Stand Bag
  The Maxfli Air Stand bag was created as a lightweight option for those that hate carrying too much extra weight on the course. Weighing in at 2.9 pounds, it’s just under half of the weight of its siblings. Aside from being lightweight, the Air Stand Bag features dual straps and carbon fiber stand legs for an affordable price of $229.99.

How they did it

Maxfli turned to a number of different sources when searching for ways to build on past success, incorporating feedback from these main sources:

• Other Forums

Maxfli compiled the data and went to work.

What they optimized

— Modern Classic Stand Bag

New and improved features with the Modern Classic Stand Bag include:

• A Velcro glove patch
  Maxfli listened to user feedback/requests when adding the Velcro glove patch, making sure that it was included in new variations.

• Single strap
  If you prefer a single-strap set up when carrying your stand bag, the Modern Classic now comes with the option to utilize a single-strap design with g-hook connections.
  
• Double strap four-point harness
  If you prefer a double strap, the Modern Classic is perfect.
  
• Updated hardware
  
• Removable (personalizable) ball pocket
  Maxfli added a removable ball pocket that can be personalized.
  

— Honors Stand Bag

• Removable (personalizable) ball pocket
  
• Insulated cooler and mesh water bottle holder
  Maxfli got a lot of feedback focused on hydration so they added an insulated cooler and a mesh water bottle holder.
  
• Pass-through cart strap
  This cart strap is great for securing your bag on the golf cart.
  
• Magnetic accessory holder
  An added magnet to hold accessories (such as a rangefinder).
  

— Air Stand Bag

Maxfli essentially rebuilt the previous Air Stand Bag to retain its light weight but beef up the durability..

• Updated the material to durable ripstop.
  Maxfli updated the new model with a durable ripstop material.

• Carbon fiber stand legs
  Maxfli pivoted to carbon fiber legs to increase durability and functionality.
  

Even with these upgrades, the Air Stand Bag still weighs just 2.9 pounds.

Final thoughts

As you can see, Maxfli tweaked many aspects of their stand bag lineup in response to constructive criticism from users.

Durable stand legs are non-negotiable. If you’ve ever used a cheap golf stand bag, you know how annoying it is to have your bag topple over again and again.

The ability to have single or dual straps is another added bonus.

By today’s standards, a hydration feature on a premier bag isn’t just a bonus but necessary.
