MyGolfSpy Readers Love These Irons And Right Now You Can Get Them For Well Under $500

Every year at MyGolfSpy, we test dozens of irons in our Most Wanted testing. Some perform well. A few surprise us. And, occasionally, one stands out in a way that our readers remember long after the testing is over. The MacGregor MACSPD irons are the latest example.

In our 2024 testing, the MACSPD earned the title of Most Accurate Game-Improvement Iron, thanks to its exceptional consistency in ball speed, carry distance, spin and dispersion. In other words, these irons do exactly what most golfers want their irons to do: help you hit more greens.

And right now, there’s an opportunity to get them for even less. MacGregor has given MyGolfSpy readers an exclusive 15-percent off discount code (MyGolfSpy), which means you can pick up a set of these irons for well under $500—a price that’s becoming almost impossible to find for a modern iron set.

From a design standpoint, the MACSPD irons check a lot of boxes for golfers looking for forgiveness without sacrificing a clean look. They feature a hollow-body construction filled with proprietary foam, paired with a thin, hot face designed to boost ball speed while maintaining solid feel at impact.

The result is an iron that offers plenty of forgiveness and playable launch while still looking relatively compact behind the ball, something many golfers appreciate when they don’t want a bulky game-improvement profile. I kid you not, these things genuinely look great.

The real appeal, though, is consistency. Our testing showed that the MACSPD produces extremely reliable shot outcomes, exactly what you want if your goal is to hit more greens and keep the ball in play. Sure, if you’re chasing pure distance, there are irons that fly farther. But if your priority is accuracy and forgiveness, the MACSPD remains one of the most compelling options in the category.

With this MyGolfSpy-exclusive code bringing the price down even further, this is one of the best equipment deals you’ll see this season. Again, for 15 percent off the MACSPDs, use code MyGolfSpy.

Have the Takomo irons been reviewed. This brand is growing in popularity and I feel your very detailed review would be great

I bought these last year when I had a discount. I paid a little over $400 including tax. They have to be the best feeling irons I’ve hit since my Mizuno blades 25 years ago. I also agree that they are the most accurate irons I’ve hit in awhile. The ball seems to go wherever the face is pointed, which isn’t always the case with all irons. They tend to be a tad shorter but I “club up” and find that I’m hitting greens with much more regularity.

Thanks for the input. I’ve had my eye on the Tommy Armour 845+ irons for $400, but with this discount code, they come in at about $425.

Do you find them to be forgiving?

With some OEM’s introducing models at a rapid pace, older models become more affordable as well. Quantum is new, 1 yo Elytes are used and more affordable.

Thanks for recognizing the non-top 5 offerings that perform well and are a little more affordable.

I see from your “what’s in the bag” that you’ve embraced some of the smaller brands. Keep up the good work!
