- Odyssey adds eight new putters to their Ai-ONE and Ai-ONE Milled putter lines.
- These new models all feature inserts designed by artificial intelligence to get the ball closer to the hole.
- Pre-sale begins today at Odyssey.CallawayGolf.com, with the putters in stores Nov. 1.
It was about a year ago when Odyssey unveiled their new Ai-ONE and Ai-ONE Milled putter lines. The key selling point for both lines was that the new inserts were designed by super computers and artificial intelligence. The primary goal of all of that number crunching was to develop an insert that improved distance control by normalizing ball speeds across the face.
What this distance normalization translates to on the green is missed putts ending up closer to the hole and that equates to fewer three-putts.
Even the best players three-putt. Odyssey calculated that tour pros collectively lost $25 million in 2023 because of three-putts. Jon Rahm alone missed $2.5 million in prize money because of those extra putts.
Don’t worry about Rahm’s financial situation too much. He and other professionals made lots of money in 2024 after switching to Odyssey’s Ai-ONE putters.
The Ai-ONE insert
Let’s take a moment and rehash what the Ai-ONE insert is all about. From the face, it looks like a typical White Hot or other Odyssey insert made out of polymer. However, if you take a peek through an Ai-ONE model’s transparent window, you’ll see the oddly contoured aluminum layer under the polymer.
The nodules and nubs of the aluminum layer are there because thousands of hours of computing determined that putting a bit more material in these spots will normalize the putt distance produced across the face. Other face technologies, like EVNROLL’s Sweet Face grooves and PING’s TR Grooves, targeted a similar goal but no other approach is as nuanced and model specific as the Ai-ONE insert design.
For the Ai-ONE milled putter, the computer still determined where the bumps needed to go but this time the topographic insert was milled from titanium. The face looks like a normal milled putter and the bumps are hidden underneath the surface.
Sorry, no cool portholes to see the bumps in the Ai-ONE Milled putters.
The computer knows its stuff
The fact that Odyssey is expanding both the Ai-ONE line and the Ai-ONE Milled line implies the new technology is working. One could argue that it is working as a marketing strategy, and I think that is a valid point, but not the only reason that the Ai-ONE design is continuing.
The tech is putting balls in holes. Period. The fact that people who pay mortgages by playing golf are sticking with the Ai-ONE models tells us that the tech works. Remember, Odyssey made it very clear that missing putts costs professionals lots of money.
No pro golfer is going to ride a cold putter. You know there are numerous old Odyssey White Hot putters models on reserve at the tour players’ houses, ready for returns to the bag should the new Fibonacci flatstick falter. As long as the Ai-ONE tech is generating wins, those other putters will continue to collect dust.
The new Odyssey Ai-ONE and Ai-One Milled models
The new cohort is conspicuously mallet-heavy. In fact, of the eight new models, only one is a blade putter. Since that blade model is actually a wide blade model, I’d not disagree if you said they are all mallets.
Regardless, the coolest thing about these new models is that they are for the most part new models. Odyssey is giving us something more than just a new neck on an old body.
Here are the new models. I’ll start with the Ai-ONE models and then get to the Ai-ONE Milled putters.
Odyssey Ai-ONE Wingback
I see quite a bit of the Odyssey/Toulon Indianapolis in the Ai-ONE Wingback. It has that same open-wheel Indy car look to it. This design is all about pushing the weight out the corners of the head to boost MOI. To some extent that is the story for the Wingback.
When you flip the putter over, you’ll see the adjustable weights are centrally located. This brings the center of gravity forward, making the mallet feel more blade-like during the stroke. I’m curious to see how this one compares to the new Spider Tour X models where the weights are a little more forward as well.
Odyssey Ai-ONE 24
Next on the docket we have Jack Bauer’s favorite model, the Odyssey Ai-ONE 24. Of all of the new models, the Ai-ONE 24 has the most interesting architecture. There are curves and cavities all over the 24. This one looks like it was designed in a wind tunnel.
Most intriguing is the single large weight at the back end of the putter. We see weights at the back end of drivers but not usually putters. Perhaps this weight placement boosts forgiveness like it does in a driver.
Odyssey Ai-ONE 2-Ball Jailbird Mini
I think Odyssey wanted to combine all of their hot putter models into the Ai-ONE 2-Ball Jailbird Mini. It’s the everything bagel of the line. The 2-Ball part of this putter is pretty obvious but it took me a minute to see the Jailbird part. Truth be told, I was looking for stripes.
When you look at the underside of the putter, you see the Jailbird shape. That shape promotes boosted perimeter weighting compared to a typical 2-Ball, making the putter more stable and forgiving. It’s impressive how the Odyssey folks were able to hide that Jailbird architecture at address. As far as mashups go, I support this one much more than I ever did the repugnant 2-Ball Blade.
Odyssey Ai-ONE 2-Ball Jailbird Cruiser
Technically, the Ai-ONE Cruiser models were part of a separate release this year. Since the Cruisers do fit the general Ai-ONE line design plan, I’ll just include this one here. As with all of the Cruiser models, this one is longer and heavier than the standard-length putters.
All of the Ai-ONE putters are built with the Stroke Lab 90 shaft, making them counterbalanced. The counterbalanced weight scheme is taken to more extreme levels with the Cruiser line. Longer shafts, larger grips and heavier heads are the norm for a Cruiser.
Like its smaller kin, Odyssey did a nice job of hiding the bulkier Jailbird body under the 2-Ball alignment.
Odyssey Ai-ONE Milled 2-Ball T
The Ai-ONE Milled 2-Ball T is a hot looking 2-Ball. I’d say it rivals the spare no expense milled 2-Ball limited edition from a few years back. I love the look of the rings around the alignment balls. They complement the titanium face perfectly. It’s a handsome putter.
By the way, in case you forgot, the “T” in the name of all of these putters is for “titanium.” I’m not sure that extra letter is necessary since all of the faces in the Ai-ONE Milled line are made of titanium. I think we could have remembered that without that extra letter in the name.
Odyssey Ai-ONE Milled Jailbird Mini T
Now we are talking stripes! The Odyssey Ai-ONE Milled Jailbird Mini T has those Versa stripes I was looking for in the 2-Ball Jailbird Mini. The contrasting blue-and-golden alignment stripes are exactly what made the Jailbird the hottest putter of 2023.
Not exactly this version, though. The Ai-ONE Milled models only come in standard/non-Cruiser configurations. I’d love to see this one offered as a Milled Cruiser.
Odyssey Ai-ONE Milled Rossie V T
Unlike the dual-lined Ai-ONE Rossie S, the Odyssey Ai-ONE Milled Rossie V T features a long single line down the center of the mallet. If you played one of the old Odyssey V-Line models, this alignment scheme will be familiar.
Bob Rosberg’s original design is still alive in this Rossie but the technologies have progressed significantly since his mallet hit the scene. It’s not just the face, either. Like with the other Ai-ONE models, you can change out the weights as needed to dial in your preference.
Odyssey Ai-ONE Milled One Wide T
With the Odyssey Ai-ONE Milled One Wide T, we finally get to the solitary new blade in the group. Compared to the standard One model, the One Wide is a little shorter heel to toe and a little wider front to back. Wide blade popularity has exploded in the past 10 years or so.
This is the putter for people who just can’t completely commit to playing a mallet. It’s the middle ground, a bridge between Bladelandia and Mallettopia. Get some of the benefits of a mallet without completely losing the blade profile. If you want to play a wide blade (or a skinny mallet?), this is your putter.
Final thoughts on the new Odyssey Ai-ONE and Ai-ONE Milled models.
With so many new models releasing, this feels more like a new release than just a line extension. Not that I am complaining. When it comes to putters, the more is always the merrier.
Adding so many new models is a great way to freshen up the Ai-ONE and Ai-ONE Milled families. For me, looking at the new models made me remember the other ones. I never did get around to rolling one of the Ai-ONE Milled Eleven mallets.
In that light, these new Ai-ONE putters freshen and refresh all at the same time.
By making eight new AI-designed models, Odyssey has demonstrated their commitment and confidence in their high-tech design methodologies. If the expensive technology wasn’t working, they would abandon it for something else. Although they are the No. 1 putter company on tour in numerous categories, Odyssey is a company that is always exploring ways to improve their putters.

FAQ: New Odyssey Ai-ONE and Ai-ONE Milled Putters
The normal Ai-ONE models are $299.99, the Ai-ONE Cruisers are $349.99 and the Ai-ONE Milled models are $449.99.
I am confident we will see more in 2025. What those will look like, I have no idea. I expect we will see something new in January.
Normally, balls struck at different parts of the putter face move at different speeds. How fast or how slow depends upon the position of impact and the build characteristics of the putter. The Odyssey supercomputers crunch all of the performance data and come up with a recipe for each head to make all parts of the face perform the same at impact. Some areas are sped up, others slowed down, but overall everything ends up more uniform in terms of roll characteristics.
Work with a fitter. The fitter can take you through a directed trial and error process, hopefully identifying the model that best fits your needs. The fitting may cost you some money but it will be less expensive than buying a new putter every month.
