Shot Scope is joining forces with MyGolfSpy, becoming our official on-course data partner.
Founded in Scotland—the home of golf—by a team of avid golfers, a former Walker Cup player, and a group of technology experts, Shot Scope’s simple aim has been to improve the way in which amateur golfers collect and analyze statistics from their game.
Known for its wide range of golf GPS, rangefinder, and performance tracking devices, Shot Scope has helped more than 180,000 golfers lower their scores. Its technology has tracked more than 350 million shots in more than 160 countries.
Utilizing one of the most robust data sets in golf, Shot Scope has proven to be an innovator in the stat-tracking and performance-management spaces. All their products have a simple goal: give golfers of all abilities the best tools to play the game better. On average, Shot Scope users see their scores improve by 4.1 strokes over the course of their first 30 rounds using a device.
Data is at the core of the Shot Scope business, and the company is dedicated to helping the golfer improve, from creating informative and data-driven articles to its subscription-free platform of over 100+ statistics. Knowing how annoying monthly subscription fees are, Shot Scope has guaranteed its software, maps, and updates will be 100% FREE for life.
“Shot Scope is an ideal data partner for MyGolfSpy,” says Editorial Director, Tony Covey. “Beyond it’s ever-expanding catalog of products and innovations, we’re especially excited to share data and case studies that will provide our readers with key insights to help them play better golf.”
Shot Scope’s data platform is one of the most advanced in the industry providing the golfer with a breakdown of every shot hit on the course, including statistics on Tee Shots, Approaches, Short Game, Putting, and Scoring. In addition, discover what you need to work on and track your progress with Strokes Gained and Handicap Benchmarking.
The company also recently unveiled its new “MyStrategy” feature – the perfect pre-round preparation tool.
MyStrategy overlays the last 30 shots hit with each club to help players identify how best to play each hole. It is based on existing, current data, allowing for an accurate representation of their game.
Players can plan ahead and create their own unique strategy for any course around the world, allowing them to play their best, even if it’s their first time on the course. If you want to maximize your home course advantage or give yourself the greatest opportunity to play well at different courses, MyStrategy has the answers.
MyGolfSpy chose to partner with Shot Scope because it is constantly innovating and bringing new software features and firmware updates to its users.
Shot Scope’s premium X5 GPS watch has received a new update for the upcoming 2024 golf season. Free to all existing X5 watch users and new customers, the personalized hole maps give the golfer an aerial view of the hole, showing doglegs, bunkers, and water hazards. Additionally, Shot Scope is leveraging its automatic shot-tracking statistics to help you make better on-course decisions.
“It is our belief that the most powerful asset for a golfer is total knowledge about their game.” said Shot Scope CEO David Hunter. “Previously, detailed round data and strokes gained information was reserved exclusively for professionals. However, with our advanced shot tracking capabilities, we are able to deliver that experience to club golfers every time they play.”
“Shot Scope are delighted to partner with MyGolfSpy as their official data partner and excited to bring
MyGolfSpy readers game-changing insights and content from our database of golf shots.”
Our collaboration will generate forward-thinking MyGolfSpy content powered by Shot Scope including case studies, “golf smarter” articles and stat-driven social posts. We want to share takeaways from their data to educate golfers on everything from course strategy to equipment purchases.

What if you don’t like wearing a watch? Am I supposed to plug in each club I hit for each shot?
I have found these auto tracking devices to be a little too much. Plugs in the back of the grips just felt weird at touch, never bothered with em. (Arcos)
This seems like it could be a little bit of work, no?
