The PGA Tour regular season is officially in the books and the 2025 playoffs are here. While Scottie Scheffler dominated headlines with wins at the PGA Championship and The Open, there are a few other players who also had a really strong season.
We looked through the full 2025 PGA Tour stat sheets to highlight the top performers in each major statistical category. From ball striking to putting, here’s who’s entering the playoffs with strong momentum.

Scoring: Scheffler dominates
When it comes to scoring, there is one guy everyone has to beat.
Scottie Scheffler’s adjusted scoring average of 68.314 leads the PGA Tour in 2025. He also topped the charts in bogey avoidance (10.76%), par-4 scoring (3.91) and birdie or better percentage (25.78%). He made fewer mistakes, took advantage of scoring holes, and did it across every course and condition.
Other golfers with some strong scoring stats include:
- Harry Hall finished the regular season first in birdie average (4.52 per round).
- Russell Henley showed that power isn’t everything, leading the Tour in par-3 scoring (2.96).
- Nicolai Højgaard quietly grabbed the top spot in par-5 scoring at 4.45.
This table shows the top five players for Strokes Gained Total in 2025 and the FedEx Cup rank of those players. Justin Thomas was sixth for Strokes Gained and he’s sitting in fifth place on the FedEx Cup rankings.

Off the tee: It’s been one guy all season
Aldrich Potgieter topped the driving distance chart at 327.6 yards. He’s been at the top of the list since the beginning of the year and his average driving distance is a full 24 yards above the Tour average. Rory McIlroy was in second place for driving distance.
Approach and ball striking: Scheffler again
Unsurprisingly, Scheffler leads in Strokes Gained Approach, Strokes Gained Tee-to-Green and Total Greens In Regulation. It’s pretty hard to beat a guy with numbers like that. Rico Hoey, a new PGA Tour player who played some great Korn Ferry golf last year, led the Tour in greens in regulation percentage at 72.15 percent.
Short game
A handful of players quietly put together elite short-game seasons and that could matter in playoff conditions.
Matteo Manassero led the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained Around-the-Green, scrambling percentage and proximity to the hole after missed greens. He has just one top-10 finish to show for it.
- Hideki Matsuyama topped the Tour in sand save percentage.
- Beau Hossler converted nearly every up-and-down chance from close range with a 98.65 percent success rate from inside 10 yards.
- Matt Wallace was the most reliable out of the rough, leading the Tour in scrambling from tough lies.
Final thoughts
Scottie Scheffler enters the 2025 PGA Tour playoffs as the overwhelming favorite. Rory McIlroy and Sepp Straka aren’t all that far behind and could put up some strong performances throughout the PGA Tour playoffs.

There’s one thing you left out. With the ball below your feet you can still be on an uphill lie, a downhill lie, or a level lie. Each one requires a slighly different ball position and swing. The worst is the downhill sidehill lie (for righties your right foot is higher than your left) with the ball below your feet.
