SPY PICS! – Scotty Cameron Kombi

SPY PICS! – Scotty Cameron Kombi

What’s With The Name?

Don’t know if you remember, but there was a VW that came out back in the 50’s. It resembled something along the lines of a used bar of soap. Not a good enough explanation? Well…maybe this will help…it usually held either a lot of surfers or a crap-ton of Grateful Dead fans. Starting to visualize it now? Here take a look. Yep…it was the VW Kombi…and that is where the new Scotty putter got it’s name-o.

So…What Do You Think (Chime In!)

We have gotten a few emails from guys asking about this one…but not much. So what do you think of the new Scotty Kombi…would you bag it or put a bag over it’s head? We also found a place that you can order one before anyone else does.

My name is Adam Beach. This place, this site, it’s more than just a business to me, it truly is an expression of who I am and what I believe in, down to my core. I feel the work I do is a reflection of who I am and the idea behind the work I do is more important than the work itself. You see, I don’t actually see myself in the golf business at all, I am in the business of caring. I am a guy who wakes up with one goal: do the right thing.

I just tried one and it sets up beautifully, rolls the ball very well, and feels as good as any putter I have tried.

I love this putter THE LOOK, THE FEEL and the RESULTS. Now for you guys who don’t like the price keep the $300.00 in your pocket and lose it on the couse to guy who owns the KOMBI

I have the the two-ball Odyessy F7; I was able to test a couple of the Camerons and I found that not my Two Ball but there were three to four others that really out-performed his putters in my opinon. I am definitely with CJ and Shadow on this one…don’t get caught up in the hype. Camerons serve more of an artistic piece then actually being best served on a course.

As ugly as it is, I am actually pretty excited for this putter.

To me, this looks like Rife and Ping Craz-e got together and had an illegitimate child.

Great analogy…I think that is the best one I have heard so far.

Interesting putter! I am probably one of the few people who cannot hit a blade putter so mallets work great for me. However, other than the three adjustable weights, what is the great new innovation. With the price of his putters as high as they normally are, why would I want to get this one versus some other brand? It looks like most of the others.

Scroll down the main page. It’s nearly identical to the Rife

Similar shape…but different technology or theory behind how it works. Scotty’s is High MOI and the Rife is low “MOI”.

But who actually buys a putter because it is high or low MOI. I’ve foubd most people base buying a putter mostly on the way that it looks, the look inspires some confidence. I’m yet to hear from someone that they bought a putter because it was high MOI

Hey Kiwi – understand where you are coming from…they might not buy it because of that but that is how they market it. You know they have to find something to say. And in testing the high MOI is quite helpful.

I agree with shadow, I have had the origonal Odyssey white hot an I also half a Two Ball Black and that covers me for types of greens, Cameron and all Putter manufacturers need keep in mind the economic climate and price there goods according,

LOL!! I don’t think with Scotty standing about 15 ft away it would be a fake. We shot the photos for this at the 2009 PGA Show.

I agree with that. I have an odyssey black series i, and before I bought it I tested it, a red x, and a newport & my odyssey outperformed both easily.

I think Scotty Cameron makes good putters, but honestly I have a custom made Slighter that works just as good as any Cameron. I think Cameron needs to keep to making blade style putters as the mallet that they have made have lacked a lot to be desired.

Hey Cj – I would have to agree with you on this one. Its funny to me he always gets so crazy with his blades but not with the mallets. It is typically opposite for most designers.

I totally agree. The designs of his mallets have never been awfully successful. The Futura was about the most successful mallet he had. The Red X was ok, but other entries have struggled. I think Cameron will have an even harder time selling putters when you can buy a Ping or Odyssey that does just as good for a lesser price. Putters are becoming all the same these days.
