Remember The Retro Taylormade Raylor? Well…Here Is The New Version

Some of you guys might still have one of the old Taylormade Raylor’s in your bag…or laying around in the garage. If so you might want to go dust that thing off…or at least until Taylormade decides whether or not they will release this new prototype version of the modern Taylormade Raylor. I only hope it is as solid as it’s predecesor…those things were crisp!

Kenny Perry and Fred Funk both tested out the new unreleased prototype at the U.S. Open at Bethpage. “It was the first week we had it out and we only had five pieces. It’s USGA legal, it’s been approved, but when we bring out new products a lot of time it’s just to get feedback and if it performs really well. It was just a coincidence that Bethpage turned out to be a wet, sloppy week,” Loegering said.

A Hybrid Of A Hybrid

The modern version a little more like a hybrid of a hybrid. Meaning instead of being a hybrid between an iron and a fairway wood this is more like a hybrid of a fairway wood and a hybrid. The size looked to be a little larger then your standard hybrid wood. And this one is built to make it super easy to get through the rough…the center rail on the sole is what made the original and the modern version so appealing. That is why you saw some guys testing it at the U.S. Open.
