These 3 Golf Rangefinders Couldn’t Keep Up in Our Testing—Here’s Why

Every year, a handful of golf rangefinders are severely outpaced by the competition.

Some lack the speed required to provide a quick reading, others have displays that are too dim, and the worst of the worst struggle to deliver accurate distances when shooting your target.

It’s important to highlight the poor performers in our testing before you decide on a budget option. The lowest price can seem appealing but you’re often better off finding an option that bridges the gap between affordability and top-tier performance.

Here are the bottom three golf rangefinders from our 2026 Most Wanted testing pool.

GoGoGo Sport Gen 2

GoGoGo Sport impressed us with the ZeroIn but the Gen 2 lacked the performance we expect from a golf rangefinder.

It was less accurate than the top performers, lacked any meaningful extra features and provided below-average optics and on-screen display. You can get away with a display that’s a little dim but poor optics can’t be overlooked.

“Optics” refers to what you see when looking through the rangefinder at the pin and everything around it. When the optics are poor, you miss out on the little details that can save you strokes during your round.

Spend the extra $20 on the GoGoGo Sport ZeroIn—you’ll thank me later.

Shot Scope Pro L2

The Shot Scope Pro L2 had a different problem—accuracy.

You won’t win awards with below-average accuracy. The Shot Scope Pro L2 performed reasonably well at shorter distances but struggled from further back. It’s not a complete failure as a golf rangefinder but it was considerably worse than most of the field.

The Pro L2 scored well in several of the other categories we test but it’s difficult to justify a purchase when the most important metric is left in the dust.

Swami LZ-i Plus Laser Rangefinder

Once again, you won’t score well in our testing if your golf rangefinder fails to give accurate, quick readings. The Swami LZ-i Plus struggled from longer ranges but also bounced around before giving a number when shooting the pin from a closer distance.

At $99.99, you’re getting a golf rangefinder that scored 8.4/10. The Swami LZ-i Plus isn’t inherently bad but it’s a “B” at best.

Final thoughts

The best golf rangefinders feature the following things:

  • Accuracy
  • Speed
  • Optics
  • Display
  • Additional Features

The best rangefinders exceeded expectations across the board in accuracy, optics and display.

Here are three options for every budget that will help you find the best golf rangefinder for your situation.
