This $245 Golf Shoe Surprised Me

There is a lot of cool gear in the golf equipment world that doesnโ€™t always fit neatly into Most Wanted Tests or Buyerโ€™s Guides. You still want to know how it performs. In our We Tried It series, we put gear to the test and let you know if it works as advertised.

What We Tried

J. Lindeberg’s Vent 500 SE Golf Sneaker.

When I pulled the J.Lindeberg Vent 500 SE Golf Sneaker out of the box, I was certain it would be one of the worst-performing golf shoes of 2026.

I’ve never been more wrong.

Who Tried It

Ty. Soft Goods Testing Manager and Bo Nix defender. The Vent 500 SE is similar to Bo Nix in the sense that it’s easily overlooked and highly underrated.

When I opened the box, the Vent 500 SE felt stiff as a board. Like … really stiff. So I reasonably assumed it would struggle on the golf course. To my surprise, the Vent 500 SE was better than a handful of shoes in the 2026 testing pool.

Is the $245 price tag justified?

Pros

Out of all the things that surprised me, comfort was number one.

I was impressed by how the Vent 500 SE felt during rounds in which I rode in a golf cart but I was even more impressed by how it felt after walking nine holes. I didn’t just walk nine holes. I pushed my daughter in her stroller. My home course has several hills and I didn’t feel any soreness during or after the round.

In terms of comfort, the Vent 500 SE is a winner with all signs pointing to proper construction mixed with OrthoLite insoles.

The stability is top-notch if you’re OK with a stiff golf shoe. Stiffness can be a major turnoff but if you can get past the initialโ€”and overallโ€”stiffness, you’ll feel locked in from shot to shot.

The Vent 500 SE is great in terms of stability; it’s just a less malleable golf shoe. Less malleability can lead to a better locked-in feeling but can be frustrating for golfers who like a golf shoe with extra flex.

Last but not least, the fit is great. Order your normal size and don’t sweat it.

Cons

I don’t have much to mention here but the traction needs to be addressed first and foremost.

As you can see from the photo above, we get a basic traction pattern that is made up of J.Lindeberg logos. The grooves on the outer sides of the foot help but not enough to call this traction good. It’s average at best. I wasn’t impressed and would caution golfers who consistently play in wet conditions. If you hate slippage, don’t pick the Vent 500 SE.

Lastly, the price.

Earlier, I posed the question of whether the $245 price tag is justified. The answer is simple.

No.

I loved testing the Vent 500 SE and it felt great on my feet but there are golf shoes out there for roughly half the price that perform much better overall. If you prioritize style, you could potentially justify the uptick in price but it depends on whether you’re OK with spending nearly double for aesthetics alone.

The Vent 500 SE currently is marked down to $122.50. At half price, I’d recommend the Vent 500 SE. At $245, however, I’d recommend looking for a more affordable golf shoe that offers the same or better performance.
