This Is the Backpack I’m Taking On Every Golf Trip

If you’re like me, the bag you carry your gear in is just as important as the gear itself. I’ve had the A2 backpack from Jones Sports Company on two trips and it’s become my go-to travel companion.

The right size

I’m not tall and I can’t stand a backpack that feels like it’s going to drag on the ground behind me. The A2 hits a sweet spot at 21 x 13 x 4 inches (53cm x 33cm x 10cm). It’s big enough to carry everything you need for a golf trip without looking like you’re hauling a school locker through the airport. It sits well and doesn’t make you feel like you’re being walked by your bag.

Organized for the way you travel

The A2 is built for the golfer who needs everything in its place. Here’s what you get:

  • Main compartment: Padded laptop sleeve keeps your tech protected on the road
  • Front pocket: Elastic mesh sleeves with easy pull tabs for your phone, keys or anything you need fast
  • Water-resistant zippers: Two of them, so your wallet and valuables stay dry no matter the weather
  • Side sleeves: Perfect for a water bottle on each side
  • Luggage strap: Slips right over a rolling bag handle

Built to last

This is where the A2 really stands out. Jones makes their golf bags from recycled ripstop fabric. The A2 gets that same treatment with the F-35 Recycled Ripstop with a wax finish. It’s water resistant, lightweight and tough.

The shoulder straps are ergonomically shaped and tapered to hit the right stress points across your shoulders. I’ve found the weight disperses instead of just sitting in one spot. The top grab handle has a molded plastic insert so it holds its structure and stays comfortable to hold even when the bag is fully loaded.

A little personal touch

One detail worth calling out is that the A2 has a hidden embroidery location tucked beneath the front buckled flap. Jones has a strong embroidery program with club logos, monograms, etc. The placement keeps things looking clean and minimal on the outside while still making it your own.

Final thoughts

The A2 is a well-built, thoughtfully designed travel backpack made with the golf traveler specifically in mind. I’ve used it on two trips already and it’s earned a permanent spot in my rotation. There are 13 color options; the one I own is called “Seacrest.”
