There’s always something new in golf. New clubs, new apparel, new shoes, new bags and the occasional product that comes completely out of left field. Rather than cover every launch with a standalone story, This Week in Golf Gear is a quick look at the new releases, collaborations and products that caught our eye.
Srixon ZXi RKT Metalwoods
If our first look at the new ZXi RKT fairways and hybrids proved anything, it’s that these clubs may play second fiddle to the new drivers, but that’s not a bad thing.
Both the fairways and hybrids get Srixon’s new RKT face design, i-Flex variable face thickness, Rebound Frame and Variable Roll Design. The fairway lineup also includes an intriguing 13.5-degree 3+ model that can be adjusted all the way down to 12 degrees, essentially giving stronger players a compact, low-lofted option without going to a mini driver.
We’re definitely interested in the hybrids. Srixon has kept them firmly in the iron-replacement camp, with high flight, soft landing characteristics, an adjustable hosel and a swappable sole weight.
Srixon metalwoods have performed well in our testing before, and there’s enough new technology here to make the ZXi RKT lineup very interesting heading into 2027.
Scotty Cameron Limited-Edition Phantom OC Spec III Putters
Scotty Cameron has given two of its Phantom OC putters the limited-edition treatment, and I know you shouldn’t base your club-buying decisions on how they look, but these are pretty.
The new Phantom 5 OC Spec III and Phantom 11R OC Spec III get a full black PVD finish, new high-contrast alignment lines and Spec III graphics inspired by the automotive world. Underneath all of that, they retain Cameron’s Onset Center design, which significantly reduces torque without eliminating it completely. Dave explained in our full breakdown, that bit of remaining torque can help preserve face awareness while still keeping the head stable.
The actual construction is not dramatically different from the stock models. These are largely about the finish, alignment treatment and limited-edition presentation. For the limited-edition junkies out there, these putters are for you.
Vessel Player VI Series Golf Bags
Vessel’s new Player VI Series is here, and the part that immediately gets my attention is the redesigned top. The entire system is built around reducing club tangle, with more space between clubs, full-length channels, a dedicated putter well and a reengineered anti-jam base. Considering how much I loathe fighting with my clubs, that alone has me intrigued.
The standard Player VI is available in six- and 14-way configurations for $449, while the Player VI Pro comes in seven- and 14-way versions for $499. Both use Vessel’s tour-grade synthetic leather, premium water-resistant zippers, velour-lined dividers and the Equilibrium 2.0 double-strap system.
Vessel certainly makes some of the most premium-feeling bags in golf. If the new top system works as well as advertised, the Player VI may also solve one of my biggest complaints with premium stand bags.
