Three New Golf Bag Drops To Liven Up Your Summer

Can a new golf bag really “liven up your summer?”

I would guess that would depend entirely on how lively of a life you live. Either way, these three new golf bag drops have passed our desk recently. They’re very different in style, vibe and function, but each one brings something unique and interesting to the table. We think they’re at the very least worthy of your attention.

After that, we’ll leave it up to you as to whether they’re worthy of your cash. And your summer’s enlivenment.

#1: The BIG MAX Dri Lite Silencio 3

Growing up as an obnoxious kid in an Italian household, I heard “Silencio!” shouted in my direction enough times to re-trigger generational childhood trauma.

The Silencio 3 is the latest BIG MAX bag to feature the company’s version of the 14-way “silent” top. It’s designed to lock each club into place to prevent rattling. In addition to doing its part in the war against noise pollution, the Dri Lite Silencio 3 is the sworn enemy of the scourge knowns as “Bag Chatter.”

Hey, you paid good money for your forged babies. It’s either this or headcovers.

Additionally, as the name suggests, the Dri Lite Silencio 3 is made from waterproof materials. It includes leak-proof zippers, a two-seam sealed valuables pocket and a rust-proof zinc towel hook with an integrated bottle opener … because it’s never just about the golf.

The Dri Lite Silencio is available in three colorways: Black, Navy/Off White and Charcoal/Black/Fuschia.

It’s $299 and available now.

#2: Sun Mountain Limited Edition Hometown USA stand bag

If you’re old enough to remember the Bicentennial in 1976, you know what a major league big deal it was. It seems the Semi-Quincentennial (the official name for a 250th anniversary) is, relatively speaking, almost an afterthought. It’s at least dancing around the periphery.

Golf companies are starting to launch their 250th anniversary merch and this new limited-edition Hometown USA stand bag from Sun Mountain looks like a standout. It’s classic Americana in waxed canvas form.

Sum Mountain Hometown USA Stand Bag

The bag is, of course, in a red-white-blue colorway and made from vintage-looking waxed canvas to give it a retro classic feel. It features four full length dividers, seven pockets, Sun Mountain’s X-Fit dual strap and weighs in at 5.8 pounds.

What’s more, only 1,776 individually numbered bags are being made. If Paul Revere played golf, he’d be hauling one of these on the ride to Lexington and Concord.

And, yes, I know The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere happened in 1775 but old Paul is my favorite revolutionary and his house and statue are in Boston’s Italian North End. As far as I’m concerned, he’s an honorary paisan.

The Sun Mountain Hometown USA stand bag is available now and sells for $450.

#3: Deveraux Golf x Mount Gay Rum collab Sunday bag

What happens when you combine 326 years of rum-making heritage with a modern golf culture vibe?

You get a golf bag that looks like this.

Give Deveraux Golf credit for this collab which no one could have seen coming. Mount Gay is the world’s oldest running rum distillery. It was established in 1703 in Port St. Lucy in Barbados. Devereaux Golf, on the other hand, is 13 years old. Started in 2013 by brothers Will and Robert Brunner, Devereaux is one of those non-traditional golf apparel and lifestyle brands that emphasizes casual, social and, most of all, fun.

And nothing says casual, social fun like a nice bottle of rum, amiright?

The Devereaux Golf x Mount Gay Rum collection includes jackets, hoodies, quarter-zip, polos, hats and T-shirts, all with a nautical, island flair that Jimmy Buffett would have loved. The golf bag, however, is the centerpiece.

It’s a Sunday bag that lets the world know you’re a Barbados kinda guy with an affinity for fine rum. It’s loud and makes a statement so why the hell not?

Wait a sec! Barbados? As in “Dos Barbas?” Two Barbas? I can hear my mother now.

“Silencio!”

The Devereaux Golf x Mount Gay Rum Sunday bag sells for $248. If you go that far, then you should add a Mount Gay rum barrel-style headcover for another $54. If you’re gonna Go Troppo. Don’t go halfway.
