FootJoy Gets a Little Weird, A Lot Awesome

FootJoy doesn’t exactly send us information, or product, or anything else for that matter, but as we work to resolve those communication issues, we wanted to make sure you were aware of an interesting pre-launch media campaign the company is running.

FootJoy tried has to build some pre-launch buzz before, but this time around its stepping its game up in ways that I’m I actually enjoying…even if I can’t quite explain it.

Behold the media kit:

Welcome to the modern world of social marketing. And yup, as you should probably expect, the frog has a name. It’s Moby, and Moby has a twitter account. Frankly, I think this is awesome. There’s no way it could be worse than TaylorMade’s Speed Police, right?

Moby appears to be a Red-eyed tree frog, which I happen to know because 1) It says so on the box, and 2) the red-eyed tree frog is my 5-year old’s favorite animal.

Here’s hers.

Frog Named Pet-100

His name is Frog Named Pet. Yeah, it’s weird…she calls her favorite doll Regular Baby too. Kids…we’re having her tested.

Anyway, FootJoy fans are anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new FootJoy shoe that will come in bright colors, have a gel-filled membrane, and suction-like properties beneath their toes.

We’ll be watching Moby’s twitter feed closely for more information.

Something similar to the Nike Bandon? 100% waterproof for those bad days that you just have to play in.
