Scottie Scheffler Leads The PGA Tour In Scrambling: These Are The Clubs He’s Using To Do It

In golf, it’s not always about hitting every shot perfectly. It’s about recovering well when things go awry. As the current world No. 1, Scottie Scheffler leads the PGA Tour in scrambling. So far this season, he’s missed 185 greens but managed to save par 132 times, boasting a scrambling percentage exceeding 70 percent. While skill and technique are important, the equipment a player uses can influence performance. Here are the clubs Scheffler uses to be the best on Tour at saving par when he misses the green.

Wedges: Titleist Vokey Design SM8 and SM10

Scheffler’s wedge setup includes:

The SM8 wedges are known for their forward center of gravity which helps enhance distance and trajectory control. This design helps players square the clubface at impact for more consistent ball flight and optimal spin.

According to MyGolfSpy’s testing, the SM10 ranked third overall among wedges in 2024 and the SM8 was third overall in 2021. Both ranked very high for spin consistency.

Putter: TaylorMade Spider Tour X

Scheffler’s putter of choice is the TaylorMade Spider Tour X. His specs:

  • Grip: Golf Pride Pro Only
  • Hosel: L-Neck
  • Length: 35.5 inches
  • Sightline: True Path with Full Line

The Spider Tour X claims to blend the stability of a mallet putter with the responsive feel of a blade. The L-neck hosel provides moderate toe hang which is best for golfers with a slight arc in their putting stroke.

Final thoughts

Scheffler’s equipment selections don’t change all that often. He’s mostly a TaylorMade golfer but his wedges have been Titleist throughout his recent success. It shouldn’t be too hard to get your equipment to match what Scheffler has. Matching his technique and skill is an entirely different story.
