I have had an I-Gotcha Ball retriever (the same one) in my bag for 25 years, mine extends to about 10′ and easily slips into a side pocket in my bag – I can’t count the number of balls I have saved (my own errant shots) let alone the number of balls I have retrieved that weren’t mine. I will keep newer pro line balls in my bag and put the rest in a shag bag for my family to use. They are not serious golfers (yet). I have not purchased a golf ball since I bought my I-Gotcha in ’98, and average about 40 rounds per year.
This thing paid for itself the very first round. There are reviews that the retriever bends to easily, and after 24 years, last year I did bend mine a little, but was able to straighten it and it continues to work. I keep it clean and add a couple drops of machine oil to it once or twice a year so it easily extends and closes.

I have a later model which is 18′. I love it!! Started using to combat delays when playing by fishing balls. The extra length really helps. Occasionally use it to retrieve errant shots, but primarily for finding balls to use later.
