Investing in the Rapsodo MLM2Pro is a smart choice if you’re looking for an affordable, reliable, and easy-to-use launch monitor to help improve your golf game.
It’s crucial to take these pros and cons into account when determining if the Rapsodo MLM2PRO Personal Launch Monitor is the right fit for your golf practice needs.
The Rapsodo MLM2PRO is known for its accuracy as it utilizes advanced cameras and Doppler radar technology. While no launch monitor can claim to be 100% accurate, the MLM2PRO provides reliable and consistent data that you can trust to improve your game.
Both the Rapsodo MLM 2 Pro and Mevo Plus are quality launch monitors, but there are some differences. The MLM 2 Pro is more affordable, making it a popular choice for golfers on a budget. Additionally, it features an integrated video system, including a slow-motion Impact Vision camera, which Mevo Plus does not offer. However, Mevo Plus may have more data points and could be more versatile in some areas.
A yearly subscription of $200 is required if you want to have spin axis access – and other features.
Aftermarket dots can be applied to the ball of your choice and have been shown to be just as accurate as the RPT balls from Callaway. And essentially as durable – for a small fraction of the price.
Yes, the Rapsodo MLM2PRO can be used for both indoor and outdoor practice, making it a versatile practice tool for golfers. The device’s design and functionality are suitable for various practice environments to help you improve your game wherever you are.
Rapsodo’s manual states “Place the device approximately 6.5-8.5 feet directly behind the ball with the alignment line on top of the device aimed directly at your intended target. If the MLM2PRO™ is in range mode, you need ~30 yards of ball flight. If the MLM2PRO™ is in net mode, you need at least 8 feet of ball flight.” Our experienced reader, reports that you’ll need at least 16 feet from the unit to your target.

While it may not have as many features as some high-end golf simulators, the MLM2PRO offers excellent value for its price, making it an ideal choice for golfers who want accurate data without breaking the bank. Been using my MLM2PRO for two weeks now on an outdoor net, hitting about 75-100 of iron shots and 10-20 driver. I would say all my iron shots (4 – PW) read incredibly accurate to my normal launch conditions and distance, but my driver reads incredibly inconsistent. I average about 110-115 swing speed with driver but cant get it to read higher than 100mph and no farther than 220yd distance. If i hit DoD it seems to read more consistent, but the second I tee the ball, I lose metrics.
I love the fact it tracks every single shot and you can view them in .25 speed and that I can trust the iron data, just haven’t been able to reliably get driver data to work.

How useful is the launch monitor if you don’t have the premium subscription? I can’t find a clear answer that addresses what metrics are provided with the basic launch monitor functionality.

I have been enjoying the Rapsodo MLM Pro2 as a practice tool in my backyard cage and at my course driving range. I think the article above does downplay the connection issues though. The device is not always easy to pair and sometimes crashes. Rapsodo has tried to remedy this with a direct connect option (when wifi is unstable). I love this device when its working as I get so much great information, users should be aware though that it can be hard to connect sometimes and that it sometimes freezes during use. So its a blessing based upon the cost and what you can access – but it can be frustrating when it gets a little buggy. I use this device 3-4 times a week and have had it since July – so 3 months of experience

How do you use it on the range if you need the dots? Thanks

Hate to keep being that guy – but:
“What is the minimum space requirement for the device?
The minimum space requirement for the Rapsodo MLM2PRO depends on the type of practice you’re engaging in. For indoor usage, a 12-foot hitting bay with a clear line of sight to the net is recommended, whereas outdoor usage may require more space. It is essential to carefully read the user manual and follow the device’s setup guidelines to ensure accurate results.”
Yes – read the manual – where you will learn that a 12-foot hitting bay – will probably not cut it for indoor use:
“Place the device approximately 6.5-8.5 feet directly behind the ball with the alignment line on top of the device aimed directly at your intended target. If the MLM2PRO™ is in range mode, you need ~30 yards of ball flight. If the MLM2PRO™ is in net mode, you need at least 8 feet of ball flight.”
IME a good 16 feet of space from the unit to your target is ideal, indoors. I’ve never used mine outdoors.

Is it a requirement to use callaway golf balls with Rapsodo MLM2PRO launch monitor outdoors? If not, do you lose some of the data points?

The dotted balls are key for measuring spin and gathering data. We have heard of people applying their own dots, but we’ve always just used the Callaway balls.

Heads up that fluorescent lights make the swing speed measurements go nuts. I recorded a 147mph swing and a 0mph swing almost back to back. No fluorescent lights and I’m consistently 100-110ish.
Other than that, no complaints with the device, only the app. It feels like a beta, tons of bugs and weird design choices. The disconnect between “practice” and “range” is especially bizarre to me – it only wants to base stats on “practice” sessions, but only “range” visually simulates ball flight. I also dislike watching my phone uploading videos of *every single swing* for an hour after I’m done when I don’t actually care about reviewing them later. Attempts to export those videos individually always fail and won’t say why, too.

If I have fluorescent lights in the garage, and they are off, will it still throw the distances off? My distances are wayyy off, by at least 50 yards. I have no idea what can be causing the short distances.
