Fourteen TB-7 Irons Review

86 overall

The Bottom Line

Fourteen TB-7 stands out as the distance king amongst player's irons for 2023. Truly, it was absurd with the distance differential to a majority of the other player irons. TB-7 offers an attractive profile as well. It narrowly misses out on a top 5 performance by finishing 6th overall. Forgiveness is its lone weakness and it is a penalizing weakness. Despite that, this is a players' iron you should not sleep on.

Pros

Player's iron golf clubs are not generally associated with distance. Fourteen TB-7 puts this perception to bed. It ranks the best players' iron for distance in 2023. From the beginning of testing, it was apparent that Fourteen TB-7 was long throughout the bag. Pitching Wedge, 7-Iron, and 5-Iron all showcase the distance potential. Our testing pool loved this aspect. They also rank Fourteen TB-7 highly for subjective feedback. It rates well for sound, feel, and looks.

Cons

Although Fourteen TB-7 is great for distance overall, it is not consistent from a forgiveness standpoint. For forgiveness, we look at how well or consistent is a golf club with its carry, ball speed, backspin and dispersion. TB-7 did not excel with consistency for these four metrics. Thus, it finishes last in our forgiveness category.

About the Fourteen TB-7 Irons

The Fourteen TB-7 Irons are a new generation of soft forged irons from the reputable Fourteen Golf brand. These irons are designed to offer a unique combination of distance, feel, and workability, making them an exciting option for both amateur and professional golfers.

Fourteen TB-7 Irons Technology and Features

The Fourteen TB-7 Irons are forged from soft S20C mild steel, providing a soft and responsive feel. This material, combined with the unique theater blade structure, enhances the overall feel and performance of the irons.

The theater blade structure, first introduced in the TB-5 Forged Irons, has also been incorporated into the TB-7 Irons. This design element removes the cavity step on the back face, allowing for a more natural flow of face thickness and an optimized center of gravity. The result is reduced vibrations transmitted to the hands and an even softer feel.

Fourteen TB-7 Irons Performance

The Fourteen TB-7 Irons are designed to deliver impressive distance and launch characteristics, which is apparent as it is the best players’ iron for distance in 2023. The spin characteristics of these irons make them a versatile option, suitable for various playing conditions and shot-making requirements.

With a compact size and minimal offset, the TB-7 Irons offer excellent workability, allowing skilled players to shape their shots easily. The irons’ design allows for high control and precision, making them an ideal choice for golfers seeking to improve their shot-making abilities.

While the TB-7 Irons excel in distance, feel, and workability, forgiveness is a slight drawback. The irons may not be as consistent in terms of carry, ball speed, backspin, and dispersion compared to other irons in their category.

Insights from Most Wanted Testing

The Fourteen TB-7 Irons have performed exceptionally well in Most Wanted testing, particularly in the distance category. The irons have been ranked as the best player’s iron for distance in 2023, showcasing their potential in this performance attribute. They also rank highly for subjective feedback, receiving praise for their sound, feel, and looks.

MyGolfSpy Test Scores

The Fourteen TB-7 Irons have received top marks for distance, outperforming many competitors in this category. The Pitching Wedge, 7-Iron, and 5-Iron all demonstrate the impressive distance potential of these irons.

While not ranking as the absolute best in accuracy, the TB-7 Irons still deliver a commendable performance in this category. The irons offer excellent control and precision for players who prioritize these attributes.

As mentioned earlier, forgiveness is the one area where the TB-7 Irons fall slightly short compared to their competitors. Despite this, the irons appeal considerably to players seeking distance, feel, and workability.

The ball speed generated by the Fourteen TB-7 Irons is impressive, contributing to their outstanding performance in the distance category. With these irons, players can expect to see increased ball speeds and longer shots.

Looks, Sound, and Feel

The Fourteen TB-7 Irons are highly praised for their looks, sound, and feel. The irons feature a sleek and attractive profile with a nickel-chrome satin finish, adding to their visual appeal. The unique theater blade structure and soft S20C mild steel construction contribute to the irons’ pleasing sound and feel, making them a delight to play with.

Fourteen TB-7 Irons Who it’s For?

The Fourteen TB-7 Irons are aimed at both amateur and professional golfers who prioritize distance, feel, and workability in their irons.
