Top 5 Golf Trip Deals for Your Next Golf Trip

For some, the “golf trip” is an annual circle on the calendar they plan their year around and for others rare opportunity to combine golf and travel. Either way, the change to get out and play golf away from everything, together with friends and family is something all golfers should experience. That said, planning a golf trip can be a monumental task with many questions:

  • Where to go?

  • Where to stay?
  • How much is this all going to cost?

More Savings Tips:

In addition to getting the right season, there are a few other tips offered by Golfbreaks to save money on your next golf trip:

  1. Be flexible with your tee times – Just like your home course, these resorts will have various green fee tiers throughout the day. While you might not want to be fighting daylight just to get in 18 holes on your trip, avoiding the peak hours can offer significant savings.
  2. Hunt for free replays – For many the goal of a good trip is to get in as much golf as possible, 36 holes a day at a minimum. Instead of paying two green fees, target resorts that offer free or steeply discounted replays to maximize the dollars per stroke average.
  3. Watch out for parking and resort fees – Like most all destinations these days, many golf resorts have parking and other resort fees paid separately from pre-booked packages. If you drive several cars or have several rooms, these fees can really add up. Make sure to read the fine print and plan accordingly.

Great write-up, I would like to add to this.

These packages are great, but, for those of us who go for fun, hanging with our friends, maybe some drinking together and playing golf, there are two destinations you must consider. Myrtle Beach and Pinehurst.

I will say, running buddy trips to these locations for the past 25-30 years, I found out some great secrets and tips to pass along. Being 52, we moved our trips out of the June and August time frames because we couldn’t handle to heat that much.

Mother’s Day week, great discounts in early May, prime season.

Stay in a house, my friends and I go to Pinehurst the weekend after Mother’s Day and my packager there has 5 houses, so we rent 1-2 depending on if we have 12-24. The best experience in the world, making huge meals, playing poker, and everyone under 1 (sometimes 2) roof.

We don’t play THE PINEHURST courses, we are a little more budget-conscious. We play around the big greens and find the best courses in both locations and we always stay in the 400-475 range per person for 4 nights and 4 rounds.

Local knowledge is key, work with a packager, they live golf in their area and know whats the best values, best packages with perks, the tricky course maintenance schedules, and which courses are the best shape at the best prices.

No 2 packagers are alike nor are they all the greatest. Took me some time to find my two but once I did, I trust them with all the details and I am a life long customer now. Be happy to share their business names but Brian Noblin (Myrtle Beach) and Steve Saye (Pinehurst) are the best!!

In short, you can play and plan serious golf trips to these areas at great rates or you can plan golf trips where fun is most important as well.
