Spy Pic – TourEdge XCG7 Driver

We just got word that Tour Edge will be unveiling their new Exotics XCG7 Driver at this weekend’s LasVegas Golf Expo.

We have absolutely no details as of yet (coming Monday), but since it’s a Tour Edge driver, we know lots of you guys are going to want to know more about it.

As you know, the XCG6 didn’t make it into our Golf’s Most Wanted Driver Test. I can all but assure you, Tour Edge won’t miss the next one.

Obviously there’s a lot more to be revealed, but what are your initial impressions?

I’m pretty intrigued by this one. The XCG4 with the Tour AD is still the longest driver I have hit. I didn’t get along as well with the XCG5, but liked the XCG6.

I’d like to see full reviews of the XCG7.

Looking forward to more info, like what shaft models will be available, etc…
For me, the shaft can make or break whether I’m going to like a driver or not.

Going by previous models they will have a decent selection, they often have reasonable upcharges for ‘better’ shafts

The shafts are the Matrix and Fujikura Fuel as standard.

Love the look of it and I’m sure it’s power packed, but as I mentioned to Tour Edge on their FB page, they should have went with a sleeve that hides all the loft variations with a window to show just the chosen loft (and that should be on the underside so that when you look down at address, it is not seen).

That would have required a thicker hosel.

Nice finish at the top. A lot goin on on the bottom. Too many things going on. A clean simple bottom like the XCG-6 FW wood would be nice.

You’re complaining about the bottom? How the heck do you swing a golf club? L.O.L.

I do like the look of the top of this club. A matte grey (not a typo, I’m Canadian) crown and a slim hosel with a subdued graphic, what’s not to like? The external loft numbers are a bit distracting, but otherwise a very nice looking club!

I think the only golf company left out there not making these crappy adjustable drivers is Wishon. When are people gonna realise that you can’t adjust the loft on this driver.
You can only adjust the lie angle and the face angle.
Why do so many gullible golfers believe the CRAP that the marketing people tell them.
You want to get the right driver? then get custom fitted with a driver that does not have an adjustable hosel on it.
      Cheers

Agree on that. Were waiting for new line hoping to see something to get back up for my driver CB4. TE do you know what you are doing?? Go play around with your bazzuukaa. Don’t drive away your loyal cust which are already small and exotics. I better start to look for new old stock CB4.

Craig, Bombtech also make a driver the has no adjustable components.

Its far easier for me to do a custom fitting with an adjustable shaft/head and when my players progress they can get a re-fit and often not need a new club! (retail therapy often overrides the logic tho!)

I think you all have your head in the clouds here… I don’t know anyone with an adjustable driver that actually changes it after its fitted to them

I saw The Exotics XCG6 driver on the Edwin Watts ARC driver test results http://www.edwinwattsgolf.com/arc.aspx and it basically rated as No 1. On that info I bought it and LOVE it. If the XCG7 comes any out better (which is a tall order) its going straight in the bag

It would have to be something really special to dislodge the XCG-4 Ultra Light from my bag!

HELLO – I have always been curious about how the AD shaft would perform in the XCG4 driver but cant find much on the web about it.

I have the xcg4 15 deg and driver in fujikura but always wondered how the superlight weight would do…if you can share any of you feelings on performance, any comparison to the fujikura if you have swung it would be greatly appreciated!

Im a 09/10 handicap and drive the ball about 240.

The Tour AD on my driver is really a great shaft. It definitely works best with a smooth swing and is super accurate when swung that way. When forced, it can get less accurate with (counter intuitively) less distance. It isn’t wildly in accurate mind you, but it really is best with a rhythmic swing. The shaft provides a really nice impact feel that transmits just enough feedback. What I like best is the club head feel through the swing. This club is definitely longer than anything else that I have tried by at least 10 yards. I have a senior flex shaft on it that really is closer to a regular flex on other clubs. I really love this club!

I have tried the Fujikura shaft on an xcg-4 fairway and although I didn’t find it bad, I do prefer the Tour AD as it gives me more club head feel. As I have had back surgery in 2002, I had lost some distance but the XCG-4 restored it. My driver distance is about 220 to 230 yards with the occasional 250 plus yard drive. These distances are gps verified so there isn’t any BSing going on here. I find the Fujikura shaft makes the club feel lighter when swung than the Tour AD. The Tour AD gives me more control as I know what the head is doing.

Mike B – thanks so much for the replies….my swing is fairly smooth so sounds like a possible good match to me…

Hope to see new 11.5 3 wood type to compete with my 3Deep!
