Foresight’s New GC3S Does Something I’ve Never Seen Before

It’s rare that I get news of a product that does something that’s never really been done. But every so often, something comes along to surprise me. And this year (well, 2024 and 2025), it seems like the launch monitor space is starting to evolve in ways previously unseen.

Late last year, it was the Garmin Approach R50. This year, though, the eyeballs are on Foresight Sports as they release the all new GC3S.

As the successor to the GCS, the GC3S has big shoes to fill. It’s not like it’s hard to follow a perennial award winner, right?

On the surface, the GC3S looks pretty darn similar to its younger brother: three cameras (hence the name) and that classic Foresight body shape and screen.

No, it’s not what’s on the outside that makes this device one of the coolest things I’ve seen this year. It’s what it does when paired with the Bushnell X3 Pro Link rangefinder that sets it apart. And, yes, in case you forgot, Foresight and Bushnell now fall under the same Vista Outdoor umbrella. We’ve all been waiting for a “collaboration” of this magnitude between the two leading technology brands.

So what do you get when Foresight and Bushnell get cozy with each other?

Let’s find out.

“S” stands for “Smart”

I’m not sure what went into the naming of the Foresight GC3S, but if you told me the “S” stands for “Smart” I’d have to believe you because I’m not sure there’s a smarter tandem of golf tech devices out there than the new GC3S and the X3 Pro Link rangefinder.

Here’s how they work.

The golfer (you) use the GC3S to learn your distances with each club. The GC3S then connects with the X3 rangefinder to share this actionable data. From here, the rangefinder is then able to suggest two clubs for you to choose from wherever you are on the golf course.

That’s right. It’s like a portable caddie that uses your real numbers collected on the GC3S to suggest the correct club(s).

But that’s not all it does.

Another crazy feature that the GC3S has is personalized “Play As” distances. Where the normal Bushnell rangefinder takes into account a general trajectory model when calculating slope, the new GC3S and X3 Pro Link use your personal trajectory to come up with a number that’s more accurate to your game.

Isn’t that nuts?

If that’s not enough, it also provides club dispersion data (overlayed on a virtual hole) so you know what your miss is with each club and it uses real-time location data to factor things like wind and weather into each shot.

That’s not the best part, though.

The technical tandem will run you $3,799. I don’t know if you remember but the OG GC3 comes in at around $6,000.

That’s one heck of a deal.

In a world full of gadgets and gizmos that claim to make you a better golfer, I’m having a hard time finding someone that’s actually doing it in a more beneficial way than Foresight Sports. You can shop the brand-new GC3S now.

This brings it up on a similar level to Arccos data, although Arccos may still have an edge it uses on course data instead of hit off a mat in a controlled environment data… interesting none the less

Vista is addicted to that seeet sweet SaaS revenue. It’s a cool feature but I’ll find better ways to spend $500 bucks, like another driver I don’t need 😂

They should fix their awful companion software you use on iphone or ipad at the range first. Dumped my BLP for Mevo+ because of this. Criminal to charge what they charge annually for such poor software.

Looks like the range finder link and elipses are now included with the regular GC3 as well. The price difference seems to be based on the subscription requirement as pointed out. I’m curious if this is just a software update that will now be included with existing GC3 owners

The new GC3 bundle for sale on the Foresight website includes the X3 rangefinder as well as ball and club data. That makes me think that current GC3 owners (like me) will be able to add the Bushnell X3 with only a firmware update. Any insight?

The HelloBirdie app paired with an Apple Watch does this for less than $100 since 3 years with a ML engine that takes every shot on the course (not on the practice range!) and gives you a game plan and live club suggestions for each shot based on dispersion and club effectiveness.

Will the club selection feature be available for those who already own a GC3/Launch Pro or will you have to purchase the new GC3S/LPi

Curious to know if the range finder connection will eventually come to the Quad/Quad Max

Assuming that in most sanctioned competitions that trajectory feature must be turned off, so kids, don’t get too addicted or relying on it so much.

Probably should mention that the difference in price is because of the annual gold subscription ($500) required to add all the features you mentioned.

If real world testing aligns with the sales pitch, it may be enough for me to pull the trigger on it. Even at $3800 for the tandem its a tough pill to swallow, but having better swing data might be worth it.
