Want a Personal Shopper? Try Short Par 4

There is a lot of cool gear in the golf equipment world that doesn’t always fit neatly into Most Wanted Tests or Buyer’s Guides. You still want to know how it performs. In our We Tried It series, we put gear to the test and let you know if it works as advertised.

What We Tried:

Short Par 4. A subscription-based golf apparel box delivered straight to your door.

Who Tried It:

Connor. Managing Editor and resident sneakerhead. I’ve tried similar subscription boxes and they’ve always turned out pretty well. The packaging for Short Par 4 is just discreet enough that my wife didn’t pester me with questions when the box showed up at my door.

What Makes Short Par 4 Unique?

You’re probably wondering what (if anything) makes Short Par 4 unique. Similar subscription boxes exist, so why Short Par 4?

There is one big thing that separates Short Par 4 from its competitors: variety. Where similar products have one, two or three options, Short Par 4 offers six distinct subscription options.

  • Fairway – $54.95 per month ($110 value) for male golfers
  • Magnolia – $99 per month ($200 value) for female golfers
  • Executive – $109.95 per month ($200 value) for male golfers who want more premium gear
  • Junior – $49.94 per month ($100 value) for junior boys and girls
  • Glove Club – Starting at $15 per month (choose one, two or three gloves per month)
  • The Vault – $99 (included with any apparel membership subscription) gives exclusive access to brand-name gear at discounted prices.

Easy Does It

The name of the game for Short Par 4 is convenience and ease. While some people (like me) don’t mind shopping around for great deals and spending hours at the local sporting goods store, there is clearly a demographic that would rather their gear be hand-picked and delivered without moving more than a finger or two.

This is the big value prop for Short Par 4. Simply answer a few questions about your style and sizes, pick a membership that fits your budget and needs and let them do the work for you.

From hitting the website to signing up for a box takes no more than a minute or two. No more spending 45 minutes waiting in line behind Dodgeball Dad or Coupon Karen at a store waiting to check out.

Is it Worth It?

I’ll let you be the judge. Based on the contents of my Fairway box, I’d say that I definitely received more than $54.95 of value. My box included:

  • Hat
  • Two polos
  • Belt
  • Golf balls
  • Golf towel

Just being honest, I’m a huge brand snob. So the Fairway Box may not be the perfect fit for me (I’m better suited for the Executive). But even still, it’s clear that the gear I received was worth more than the price I paid.

I’m a sucker for a good deal and Short Par 4 is just that.

I tried short par4 some years back there was some ok stuff. But they sent a patriotic American flag themed putter and ball marker that were made in China. I canceled after that.

If I got a shirt and a hat every month, my wardrobe would be overfilled in no time. What are you guys doing that needs that many clothes?? Always like the idea of these things but I may go looking for a new shirt maybe twice a year…
If any of these subscriptions did once a quarter or so, I’d be keen but makes little to no sense to get that much gear that often.

Buy a bunch of stuff from Ross and charge a subscription model for it. Genius.

It’s one thing to buy stuff you don’t need. This is spending money on stuff you don’t even know will show up. Absolutely mental to me.

I tried it for 3 months…..took a bit to get used to the brands but the Graham Luxe shorts were a home run. One box included long pants, so I reminded the m that I live in Florida and really can’t use them….so they replaced them with shorts. I usually got a hat, shirt, underwear, shorts, belt and a poker chip. Worth the money but I wish they would offer an alternative subscription such as every three months or every other month. I canceled because once a month is too much.

This right here. I had them for a bit, but I live in Ohio so I don’t need things for like 4-5 months. I asked them to do a quarterly program and they said no. If they had quarterly, I’d probably sign back up. It is weird in 2024 to only have a one size option for a subscription.
