Would you spend $20 to have your putter built to fit your stroke?

Yes is the only acceptable answer.

For the price of your next DoorDashed Big Mac meal, you could make your new Evnroll putter fit you for length, lie, loft, weight and grip.

Typically, “custom putter” comes with a price tag that is hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars above the price of the retail version.

That’s just not the case at Evnroll these days. If you want a customized version of an Evnroll putter, it will cost you $20. $20.

Evnroll Custom Program: Business Over Pleasure

Evnroll’s custom program has devolved a bit since I built the custom ER2v shown in the above photo. No longer can you change the paint fill, alignment lines or add different necks to your Evnroll putter.

Thankfully, the cost to customize has decreased as well.

That $20 gets your Evnroll putter built to your play specs. This includes a no-cost Gravity Grip option for many of the customizable models. 

For reference, the new model Gravity Grips cost $35 if you buy one separately.

You can also choose from a variety of stock headcovers or upgrade to a fancy one for another $20. Adding a headcover at the Cameron Custom Shop will run you quite a bit more than that.

The design options are primarily utilitarian but so is the pricing.

Dave’s Evnroll Neo Classic ER1.2 Black

My head of choice for customization was the Evnroll ER1.2 Black. I’m a big fan of the Neo Classic 2.2 but I’m back to being an Anser-style player these days and wanted to see how the smaller 1.2 head would play in comparison.

Building the Evnroll Neo Classic 1.2B custom took a minute or so. I know my build specs so those were simple selections. Click, click, done.

I did want to take advantage of the chance to add a Gravity Grip. The four new models cover the range of shapes. I went with the GG2 since it is the closest to the shape of the Evnroll stock grip which I find quite comfortable.

Selecting the headcover was the most difficult decision. I love the look of the new Neo Classic stock headcover but wanted to explore the non-stock covers. After some back and forth between the Dancing E and Birdie Town, I chose the latter with its Vegas-inspired look.

Evnroll Remote Putter Fitting

It took me very little time to build my putter since I know my build specs. But what if you don’t know your putter should be built?

You could visit the Evnroll Studio in Carlsbad, Calif., for an in-person Evnroll ERX fitting. If you don’t have a trip to California in your putter budget, Evnroll offers a way- cheaper $40 remote fitting option. Through video analysis and a consultation with an Evnroll fitter, you should be able to determine your best build.

Evnroll will then send you a link with your custom build so you’ll not need to worry about inputting your specs correctly.

This brings your total investment to $60 above retail for a fitted and customized Evnroll putter. Sounds like a bargain to me.

The Finished Custom Evnroll Neo Classic ER1.2B

After a week or two, my putter hit my porch. Truth be told, the opening of the box and observing my custom Evnroll Neo Classic 1.2B lacked some of the giddiness usually associated with seeing a custom putter for the first time.

This was not unexpected since the putter in the box looked exactly like the stock Neo Classic 1.2. Call me jaded but altering the lie angle by two degrees is not going to invoke much of a “that looks cool!” response from me.

It wasn’t a total letdown, though, as the GG2 Gravity Grip and the Birdie Town headcover were interesting-looking deviations from stock.

Once I got the new ER1.2 to the course, the giddiness hit me like a truck.

In all my years of testing putters, I have never had a putter that performed as well out of the box as this custom Evnroll Neo Classics 1.2. I’m probably even underselling how good this putter feels, and how it rolled balls on target with essentially zero adjustment period.

This is what your $20 gets you. Your new putter may look stock. It is not. It is built to perform in your hands.

The GG2 has a great shape, way better than the original Gravity Grip shape in my opinion. I had one of those on the custom ER2v and it lasted about a week or so before being replaced.

This Gravity Grip is staying. The shape is comfortable in my fingers and I can really feel it working to connect my hands to the putter face. Getting this grip as a free option is amazing.

Final Thoughts on the Evnroll Custom Putter Program

The customization options may be limited this time around but I have no issue with recommending Evnroll’s current custom program. I am not sure why you would buy one of their putters without spending the extra $20 to have it fit your needs.

Though I’ve spent today talking about custom options, don’t forget Envroll putters are also packed with technologies to help you make putts. The Evnroll grooves help correct for distance and dispersion on off-center strikes.

The new polymer/aluminum insert found in the Neo Classics line adds an amazing feel to the grooves corrective properties.

Evnroll’s putters are all about helping you make putts.

I would like to see paint fill options added back into the mix. Keep the headcover options coming as well. The Vegas-sign head cover is a solid addition.This is another avenue where Evnroll could expand the offerings to make customers feel like they are getting something non-stock.

The bottom line is that the Evnroll Custom Putter program packs plenty of punch for only a $20 upcharge over the stock putter price. Odds are you’ll make that $20 back from your buddies the first time you take your new Evnroll to the course.

FAQ: Evnroll Custom Putter Program

Why did the aesthetic options go away?

It may be just a new direction the company is taking after their sale back in 2023. Evnroll’s focus has always been more on performance than aesthetics. However, the Neo Classics line is the best-looking Evnroll line to date so the looks are trending in the right direction.

$20 is cheap but don’t some companies offer this type of customization for free?

You can order putters with custom specs with no upcharge from other companies. Typically this will involve placing the order from a golf shop. Once you start changing grips and headcovers, you’ll be spending much more than $20.

Is the new custom program only for the new Neo Classics line?

There are two full pages of Evnroll putters available for customization. All of the Neo Classics are there as are the V-Series putters from last year. The only recent models that are not customizable are the 38 Tour Spec. Those are very new models and perhaps their customization is coming soon.

Can you remove the stock paint and repaint the putter head?

On the stainless steel heads, I think removing the paint and repainting should be an easy DIY task. I don’t think the metal will have a negative reaction with the paint solvent. On the black head, I am not sure how the finish will react to the acetone or whatever would be used to remove the paint. As such, I’m not messing with the paint and you can do so at your own risk.
