PING Offers G430 MAX 10K HL Driver Exchange Program

PING has announced a new program that will allow owners of PING G430 MAX 10 HL drivers to exchange their driver for the standard (non-HL) version.

For the uninitiated, the HL is the lightweight version of the G430 MAX 10K driver. The design spec is achieved by using a lighter backweight in an otherwise standard MAX 10K head.

The important detail in all of this is that MOI (moment of inertia) is the basis for the 10K name (and the related performance claims). MOI is, in part, a function of weight, and with the lighter weight of the HL build, the driver doesn’t quite cross the 10K inertia line.

Understandably, not every golfer understood that.

While I’m going to tell you that buying a driver because of a static MOI number is a little silly, I’m also sure that more than a few golfers did. My thinking is that whether the MOI is a little over 10k or a little under 10K it’s still an outstanding performer, and that’s what matters

The last time I checked, the lowest score, not the highest MOI, wins.

Regardless, PING is making right on any confusion that may have been caused by offering the no-charge exchange program.

“We believe the vast majority of G430 MAX 10K HL owners are extremely satisfied with the performance of their drivers and we want to assure them their decision to put it in their bags was a good one,” said John K. Solheim, PING CEO & President. “It’s important we stand behind our products in this way. If they purchased their driver based upon a misunderstanding of the club’s combined MOI value, we want to do the right thing and exceed their expectations.”

Golfers can exchange their G430 MAX 10K HL driver for a standard G430 MAX 10K with PING’s ALTA CB Black or no-upcharge aftermarket shafts in either 9°, 10.5° or 12°.

Additional details about the program for G430 MAX 10K HL owners interested in the exchange will be available July 10, 2024 on ping.com.

“The design spec is achieved by using a lighter backweight in an otherwise standard MAX 10K head.” If this is so, why not just swap out the backweight to the heavier version instead of swapping the whole driver, shaft and all?

I don’t understand any of this offer..if you have bought and paid for the latest G435 Driver..why would you exchange for a lesser model
or another..i do not get it..
I was interested in a ‘ new ping driver’ (as for 44 yrs i have been a loyal customer) but this now has my doubts in trusting the product..wtf..offering exchange deals..are you kidding..?

Yeah good on them but the whole thing is a bit absurd. It’s the 10K head reconfigured to be lighter. The 10K is a made-up number for marketing anyway (they’re just adding the horizontal & vertical MOI measurements).
