We Tested 3 COBRA Hybrids. One Was A Star. One Fell Flat.

COBRA hybrids have always been a strong point in the company’s lineup, especially for mid- to high-handicap players who want forgiveness and reliability. This year’s 2025 Most Wanted Hybrid Test featured three different COBRA models. One was a clear standout, one proved solid but not spectacular, and one fell short. If you’re in the market for a new COBRA hybrid this information may help.

The Champ: COBRA DS-Adapt Hybrid

The DS-Adapt was one of the stars of this year’s test and earned the title of Best Overall Hybrid of 2025. It combined accuracy, distance and forgiveness in a way that few other clubs managed.

  • MGS Score: 8.8
  • Accuracy: 8.9
  • Distance: 8.6
  • Forgiveness: 8.8

With an average carry of 180.28 yards, total distance just under 195 yards and one of the tightest dispersions in the field, it proved to be long enough and consistently accurate. Testers described it as “solid,” “very forgiving” and even a top choice for players who usually struggle with hybrids.

If you want a hybrid you can trust to launch high, hold greens and stay in play, DS-Adapt deserves a spot on your short list. The only real knock is brand bias. If you’ve been reluctant to bag a COBRA, skipping this one could be a mistake.

Solid Performer: COBRA KING TEC Hybrid

KING TEC didn’t quite reach DS-Adapt’s level but it still produced a strong showing and finished within the top 10. It offered plenty of distance and solid accuracy, landing right in the middle of the pack. For better ball-strikers, there’s plenty to like here.

  • MGS Score: 8.6
  • Accuracy: 8.7
  • Distance: 8.7
  • Forgiveness: 8.3
  • Avg. Carry: 180.89 yds
  • Avg. Total: 194.84 yds
  • Shot Area: 1,685 sq yds

The numbers show why KING TEC was good but not great. It matched DS-Adapt for distance and accuracy but slipped in forgiveness. Standard deviations in carry and dispersion were wider, which means results weren’t as reliable swing to swing.

If you can find the center of the face, KING TEC is a solid performer.

The Struggler: COBRA KING TEC ONE Length Hybrid

The ONE Length concept is always interesting but, in the 2025 hybrid test, it didn’t deliver. This model lagged behind in ball speed and distance, making it the weakest COBRA option this year.

  • MGS Score: 8.3
  • Accuracy: 8.2
  • Distance: 8.2
  • Forgiveness: 8.5

While forgiveness was respectable, the lack of speed and distance is tough to overlook. Its flatter launch and descent angle made holding greens more difficult and testers consistently saw shorter results compared to other hybrids. For most players, the ONE Length design simply didn’t translate well at the hybrid level.

I’m going to offer a counter point on the One Length. Year in and year out it ends up at the bottom of MGS’s testing. Part of that is the strokes gained calculation and how it favors distance. It’s not all that though because of the accuracy discussion. In the testing pools, they do lag which is the surface point of this article.

I suspect it is more the difference relative to the rest of the clubs in the testing pool. With every other hybrid tested, they’re going to be fairly similar in setup due to similar shaft lengths. Ball position, distance from the ball, etc. are going to be much more different for the One Length vs the rest of the hybrids for the testers. They’re naturally going to get into a bit of a groove hitting all the hybrids and then the One Length will be an outlier. In a testing set, it is not surprising that the One Length being the most different produces wider results.

For any player who struggles with a fairway wood, long iron or even with a long shafted hybrid, but hits their “7 iron down” (and really it is more about shaft length of 37.25 inches or less) well, then they likely will prefer the Cobra One Length hybrid. They’ll take a little practice to adjust to, but when pulled out for one single shot from down will produce more consistent results front to back and laterally than a longer shafted hybrid.

They’re great for beginners and high handicappers, but I know of at least one very low handicap player who recognizes the same benefits.

Hey Cobra! If you are listening, any chance for a 28-30 degree One Length hybrid? Pretty please?
