We’ve done all the testing and have all the data on the drivers that perform the best. However, that data is not always what influences a golfer’s purchasing decision. Have you ever gone for a golf fitting and just couldn’t bring yourself to purchase the club you hit the best because, well, you just didn’t like the look, feel and/or sound? That’s why we also ask our testers report on the subjective appeal of the clubs they are playing with. Based on that feedback, here are the top three drivers golfers are most likely to buy.
Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond
Who Is It For?
✅ Players who need more distance. The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond was in the top five for carry and total distance for 34 percent of the test pool.
✅ Golfers who want versatility. Ranks in the top 10 for accuracy and forgiveness.
Who Is It Not For?
❌ Anyone who needs spin: The Ai Smoke Triple Diamond is a low-spin driver. Our test data proved it’s one of the lowest-spinning on the market.
❌ Golfers who prioritize straight shots: If accuracy is your main concern, this is not the most accurate of the drivers we tested.
Why Buy
The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond was the second-best driver of the 37 we tested in 2024. Its overall score was 9.5/10, just missing top spot.
One of the things that really helped the Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond was its distance performance. It was the second-best driver for distance.
Accuracy and forgiveness numbers put the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond near the top of the list. Its forgiveness is slightly better than its accuracy. We measure forgiveness by the ability the driver has to hit predictable shot outcomes.
A predictable and long driver will help many golfers so it’s no wonder this one was considered the most likely to purchase. Sound, feel and looks were all ranked quite high. One tester said, “I love the overall design, especially the sole of the driver. The address is clean and sits well with my eyes. Plus, it seems forgiving across the face despite being perceived as a “better player’s” driver.
Score: 9.5
Titleist TSR3
Who Is It For?
✅ Someone looking for a range of performance. If you need a driver with a mix of forgiveness, distance and accuracy, the TSR3 is a good choice.
✅ The golfer who wants consistency. Ranks among the top 10 for forgiveness, not something we always expect from a better player’s driver.
Who Is It Not For?
❌ Players looking for a matte finish: The TSR3 has a glossy finish that appealed to most testers but it’s not for everyone.
❌ Anyone who needs spin: The TSR3 is considered a low-spin and low-launch driver.
Why Buy
The Titleist TSR3 is technically perceived as a “better player’s” driver yet it ranked very high in the likelihood of purchase across the entire test group. The TSR3 is the fourth-best driver overall and also fourth-best for distance.
It’s slightly more forgiving than the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond but the accuracy was not quite as good.
Titleist has always been known for its feel, sound and looks in the drivers they create and, clearly, the TSR3 is no exception. It scored 8.8/10 for distance so it won’t travel as far as the Paradym Ai Smoke. Overall, it was only about two yards shorter on average.
Score: 9.2
Titleist TSR2
Who Is It For?
✅ Someone looking for forgiveness and consistency: Delivers consistent and reliable carry distances and ball speeds, especially for high swing speed players.
✅ The golfer who wants an appealing driver. Testers liked the looks, sound and feel of the TSR2 driver and it had performance to back it up.
Who Is It Not For?
❌ Players looking for a bargain: The TSR2 has been on the market for a long time but pricing is still pretty high.
❌ Golfers who want pure distance: The TSR2 is plenty long but it’s not the longest driver of the 2024 test.
Why Buy
The third driver that, according to our testers, golfers are most likely to buy is the Titleist TSR2. The TSR2 didn’t rank well for distance but it is only about three to four yards shorter than the top driver for total distance. It struggled slightly in accuracy but was more forgiving than the Callaway Paradym and the TSR3, finishing fourth overall for forgiveness.
We expected some extra consistency and forgiveness in the TSR2, considering it’s a club built more for mid-handicap players. There is no denying that golfers enjoyed the overall feel and look of the TSR2.
Score: 8.5
