Every golfer should take advantage of forgiveness in a driver. It’s the longest club in your bag, swung at the fastest pace … a little help from the club is invaluable. Our 2024 best driver testing proved forgiveness off the tee does not necessarily mean you have to sacrifice feel or distance. The PXG 0311 XF GEN6, the PXG 0311 GEN6 and the PING G430 SFT were the top three most forgiving golf drivers of 2024. Here’s what you should know about these three clubs.
Winner: PXG 0311 XF GEN6
Who Is It For?
✅ Players who love consistency. Carry distance and was incredibly consistent with this driver.
✅ Anyone who qualifies for PXG for Heroes. Special pricing is available for former and current military and first responders.
Who Is It Not For?
❌ Golfers who skip fittings. As great as this driver is for forgiveness, you should get fitted for it.
❌ May not be the longest. Part of the reason you want the fitting is to ensure you get the right shaft to maximize total distance without sacrificing distance.
Why Buy
The PXG 0311 XF GEN6 is one of the best PXG drivers we have encountered. It’s less expensive than the competition and produces some of the most consistent dispersion rates. Testers were surprised by their confidence in this driver and how much it helped improve consistency.
We’ve noticed PXG create forgiveness in their clubs year after year and, this year, they certainly had no trouble locking in the top two spots.
The PXG 0311 XF GEN6 is adjustable so it can work for a wide range of players. Probably the most important thing to keep in mind is that a fitting will help ensure that the club is the best overall fit for your game.
Score: 9.8
Runner-Up: PXG 0311 GEN6
Who Is It For?
✅ Someone looking for consistent carry distance. It might not be the longest but you will know what you are getting with this one.
✅ Golfers who qualify for PXG Heroes. The incredible savings program to thank the military and first responders will save quite a bit of money on this driver’s purchase.
Who Is It Not For?
❌ Players who can’t get fitted: If you don’t have access to a local PXG fitting, this may not be the driver for you.
❌ Anyone who struggles with ball speed: The PXG 0311 GEN6 is not the longest driver of 2024.
Why Buy
The PXG 0311 GEN6 is the runner-up for the most forgiving golf driver of 2024. In addition, this club was the second-best driver for carry distance. It may not have beaten out the total distance category but you will find reliability and consistency here.
Even though the PXG 0311 GEN6 is the second-best driver for forgiveness, it did score a little better overall than the PXG 0311 XF GEN 6. Most of the differences in performance were due to the impressive carry distance from the PXG 0311 GEN6.
Testers were impressed with the feel, sound and ball flight. The only complaint here was a little less ball speed than from other drivers. You’ll want to get tested for this one to maximize those carry distance numbers without letting go of your consistency goals.
Score: 9.4
3rd: PING G430 SFT
Who Is It For?
✅ The player who needs more consistency. If you like hitting the center of the fairway repeatedly, the PING SFT has tight dispersion and consistent carry.
✅ Golfers who slice. The PING G430 SFT is a reliable draw-bias driver that helps decrease the fade or slice.
Who Is It Not For?
❌ Anyone worried about distance: The PING G430 SFT is below average for distance, especially for higher swing speeds.
❌ Players with low ball speed: With a rank of eighth for overall ball speed, it’s not the top choice for speed.
Why Buy
The PING G430 Max 10K is the best overall driver of 2024 and it also placed first in the accuracy category. However, when you look at total forgiveness, the PING G430 SFT scored a 9.2, whereas the PING G430 Max 10K has an 8.8. Maybe that doesn’t seem like much but we can certainly say that the PING G430 SFT is the most forgiving of the PING drivers this year.
This G430 SFT driver stood out for high-swing speed players. It does a great job of managing that speed and helping you straighten out your shot.
The dispersion was in the top five for 27 percent more testers than the next best driver. A slight draw-bias, consistent carry distance and tight dispersion earned the PING G430 SFT a spot as the third most forgiving driver of 2024.
