Top 4 Best Golf Shoes for Wet Conditions

If you’re golf-obsessed, a little rain shower won’t keep you off the course. But playing with shoes soaked to the bone is a whole other story. During our 2024 Best Spikeless and Best Spiked golf shoe testing, we evaluated how each shoe performs in the elements. Whether you’re a morning dew sweeper or a die-hard golfer who refuses to call it quits, these four golf shoes—two spiked and two spikeless—are the best options for staying dry and comfortable.

ECCO LT-1 (Spikeless)

Who Is It For?

✅ Someone looking for more comfort. The upper and dual-foam cushion make the ECCO LT1 very comfortable.

The golfer who plays in all conditions. Waterproofing on the ECCO LT1 is the best you’ll find.

Who Is It Not For?

Players with super narrow feet: The LT1 is roomier in the toe box but narrow throughout.

Anyone expecting a cheap spikeless shoe: ECCO doesn’t make anything cheap.

Why Buy

The ECCO LT-1 is the best spikeless shoe for wet conditions. When we test these shoes, we hold them under running water for 30 seconds to determine whether water can permeate the membrane.

The ECCO LT-1 kept water away better than any other spikeless shoe we tested. In addition to being the best golf shoe for wet conditions, the LT-1 is also the best overall spikeless golf shoe of 2024.

It’s comfortable, offers great traction and good stability. Testers loved the comfort but they noticed that the shoe can run a little narrow so keep that in mind if you plan to purchase it.

Score: 14.75/15

FootJoy Fuel Sport (Spikeless)

Who Is It For?

Someone looking to play more early-morning rounds. An excellent shoe for playing in wet grass.

The golfer who wants better traction. Besides being dry out on the course, the Fuel Sport has great traction on various surfaces.

Who Is It Not For?

Golfers who need flexibility in the shoe: The Fuel Sport is extremely stiff with little give throughout the swing.

Players with a broader foot: If you have a wider foot, you may struggle with the shoe being a bit tight.

Why Buy

The FootJoy Fuel Sport finished sixth overall in the Best Spikeless Golf Shoe test but second-best for playing in compromised conditions.

The Fuel Sport offers great traction and stability, but it’s not the most comfortable shoe. At less than half the cost of the ECCO shoes, it’s a more budget-friendly option.

Overall, the Fuel Sport is a supportive shoe for golfers who play in all weather conditions. It just feels stiff compared to other shoes on the market.

Score: 14.5/15

ECCO Biom G5 (Spiked)

Who Is It For?

Someone who plays golf on the worst days. The best overall finish for a spiked golf shoe in wet conditions.

The golfer who values stability. Strong ratings for both stability and traction from the Biom G5.

Who Is It Not For?

Anyone looking for the best all-around shoe: A good choice in rough weather but didn’t finish near the top of the 2024 test.

❌ Golfers looking for a traditional shoe: The unique look of the Biom G5 is not as stylish as other shoes.

Why Buy

The ECCO Biom G5 tied with the ECCO Biom Tour for the best-spiked golf shoe for wet conditions. The Biom G5 is a leather golf shoe with GORE-TEX incorporated into the design.

If you care about stability and traction, the Biom G5 did well but it lost some points for comfort. Overall, you’ll stay dry but the Biom G5 finished outside the top 10 for best-spiked golf shoes.

Score: 14.75/15

ECCO Biom Tour (Spiked)

Who Is It For?

Someone looking for good traction. Traction is only going to help in wet conditions, a good combination for a waterproof shoe.

The golfer that values waterproof performance. If you love seeing how long it takes for your socks to get wet during a rainy round, you’ll love the Biom Tour.

Who Is It Not For?

Players looking for cheap everyday golf shoes: Too much technology in this one to keep the price down.

Anyone who wants extra comfort: Second-last for comfort.

Why Buy

The ECCO Biom Tour finished a little further down the list than the Biom G5. It has the same 14.75 scores for its ability to withstand elements.

The problem with this one is, again, comfort and stability. Traction in the Biom Tour is good, maybe a bit better than G5. Pricing will be a little higher than the Biom G5 depending on what promotions are running.

If you are sensitive about comfort in your golf shoes, stay away from the ECCO Biom Tour. The shoe ranked second-last in the comfort category.

Score: 14.75/15

I purchased the Ecco biom H4 and was so amazed at the comfort in the toe box while feeling snug everywhere else. Great traction and not hard on the greens.
I went and got another pair for everyday wear as well. On and off the course!
Quality has not been an issue.

Please do a “most wanted” for wide/extra wide golf shoes.

I’ve spent countless hours on Amazon buying and returning to find an even semi-comfortable golf shoe.

Currently have a pair of FootJoy tour boa (spiked) amd Callaway (last years model) spineless both I extra-wide.

      Thanks!

Maybe I have different feet, but I find Ecco exceptionally comfortable and the only brand where I immediately can go out golfing in a new pair without worrying about blisters and sore feet. I’m not surprised they come out on top in this test – the waterproofing is excellent.

I have the ECCO LT-1 (Spikeless) and the footbed is removable for wider feet.
