6 Best Putters of 2024 (Tested and Compared)

When we did our 2024 best golf putter testing, we split it into two groups: blades and mallets. We tested 39 blade putters and 46 mallet putters. Our testers hit a total of more than 40,000 putts with these 85 models. To determine the best golf putters of 2024, we looked at performance from five, 10 and 20 feet. If you think it’s time to put a new putter in your bag, look at the best golf putters in 2024.

Best Blade Putters 2024

The top three best blade putters of 2024 were the Evnroll Neo Classic ER2, Zebra Black Milled Series 003 and the T-Squared TS-912. Each of these putters demonstrated solid performance from five, 10 and 20 feet.

While the Evnroll Neo Classic ER2 is as good as you can get from five and 10 feet, it fell slightly behind for the 20-foot range. T-Squared, a new addition to the 2024 test, had the highest score from 10 feet.

Evnroll Neo Classic ER2

Who Is It For?

✅ Someone looking for help with the short putts: The Evnroll Neo Classic ER2 had the highest score from five feet.

The golfer who wants more consistency: Also among the top performers from the 10-foot range.

Who Is It Not For?

❌ Players worried about longer putts: From 20 feet, the Evnroll Neo Classic ER2 had its worst performance.

Zebra Black Milled Series 003

Who Is It For?

✅ Someone looking for a good mix of performance: The Zebra Black Milled Series 003 performed well from 10 and 20 feet.

The golfer who wants a unique alignment line. They call this one the “Zebra” for a reason. You’ll see the classic stripes on the alignment aid.

Who Is It Not For?

❌ Players worried about short putts: The Zebra Black Milled Series 003 has great performance from 10 and 20 feet but is not a top choice from five feet.

❌ Golfers who don’t remember the original Zebra putters. You’ll either love or hate this classic Zebra design. It may not be for you if you don’t remember the original.

T-Squared TS-912

T Squared TS-912 putter

Who Is It For?

✅ Players who need to make 10-footers: The T-Squared TS-912 is best overall blade-style putter from 10 feet.
Golfers who struggle with overactive hands. The round grip and unique alignment line work together to help keep the hands out of the stroke.

Who Is It Not For?

Anyone who struggles with shorter putts: The overall performance from five feet was not great with the T-Squared.

Newer golfers who don’t have distance control figured out: With average performance from 20 feet, new players should look for something that simplifies distance control.

Additional Winners/Awards (Blades)

If a blade putter is best for your stroke but you need a putter to help you with a specific length putt, here are some other winners to consider:

Best Mallet Putters 2024

With mallet putters, we expect longer alignment aids, a stable putter head and more variety in the look and style. The best overall mallet putter of 2024 is the Bettinardi INOVAI 6.0. It is the best putter from 10 feet and 20 feet.

The runner-up in our mallet putter testing is the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K Rossie S. The Odyssey Tri-Hot performs well both from five feet and 20 feet. It also offers great value when compared to comparable putters.

Bettinardi INOVAI 6.0

Who Is It For?

Golfers who want to make more putts from more than 10 feet: For 10- and 20-foot putts, the Bettinardi INOVAI 6.0 is the best you’ll find.

Players who value sound and feel: One of the highest-rated by testers for sound and feel.

Who Is It Not For?

Anyone concerned about five-foot putts: The Bettinardi INOVAI 6.0 finishes in the bottom half of the data for five-foot putts.

Players on a budget: At $399, the Bettinardi INOVAI 6.0 is not the cheapest option on the list.

Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K Rossie S

Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K Rossie S

Golfers who need efficiency from five feet: The Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K ranks third overall from five feet.

Anyone who wants help with lag putting: Not only was the 5K a strong performer from five feet, it ranks second overall from 20 feet.

Who Is It Not For?

Players concerned with toe hang: If you don’t like a putter with moderate to severe toe hang, this may not be the one for you.

Golfers who struggle with the 10-foot range: The weakest performance of the Tri-Hot 5K was from 10 feet.

Wilson Staff Model CS22

Wilson Staff Model CS22 mallet putter

Who Is It For?

Golfers who need consistency from 10 feet: Ranked second overall from 10 feet, a great indication of its potential consistency.

Anyone who wants a center-shafted putter: If you like the optics and feel of a center-shafted putter, the Wilson Staff Model CS22 is a good option.

Who Is It Not For?

Players concerned with the look: Testers did not love the sound or feel of the Wilson Staff Model CS22.

Golfers who struggle with the top-down look of a center-shafted putter: Center-shafted putter options are limited so make sure this is something you want.

Additional Winners/Awards (Mallets)

If a mallet putter is best for your game but you need a putter to help you with a specific length putt or to fit into your budget, here are some other winners to consider:

What to look for in the best putters of 2024

Putter fittings are just as important as iron or driver fittings. However, if you want a little insight into what you should look for in a new putter, here are some of the most important things we learned in our testing.

Performance is more important than appeal

Our testing results are based on performance. However, we still ask golfers which putters they like the best. There was no consistent link between the ratings for look, sound and feel and a putter’s effectiveness.

A perfect example is the T-Squared TS-912. It’s the best overall putter from 10 feet, regardless of putting stroke or handicap, yet it has low subjective appeal. You’ll have to find a putter that appeals to you so you love it but if you want lower scores, go with the one that performs the best.

Customization is important – It’s easier to find with a mallet

Customization will help you find the type of putter and model that suits your needs. However, blade putters rarely come with different hosel types, making it harder to tweak the putter design to your needs. PXG, COBRA and TaylorMade offer some variations but a mallet is better if you want more personalized choices in the putter you put in your bag.

Matching to your putting stroke is not as important as performance data

A quick way to determine if you are a blade vs. mallet putter golfer is to look at your type of putting stroke. The “arc” stroke gravitates towards the blade-style of putter and the mallet was best for a “straight back/straight through” stroke.

New models offer more forgiveness and better technology than older models making it easier for you to choose a putter based on performance alone and not worry so much about the design of the clubhead.

There’s more to come with zero torque putters

We have completely changed our putting testing over the years to make it more extensive and to focus on performance from each distance. However, traditional blade and mallet putters may be a thing of the past. We’ve updated our putting testing so we can look at everything from stability to off-center strikes. Stay tuned in 2025, and read more about the zero-torque putters here.

I just picked up the Cleveland Retreve putter and so far I couldn’t be happier. I have been sinking putts with confidence and those putts that I missed where because I read the green wrong (usually overreading breaks).
The only disappointment so far is that it doesn’t always pick up the ball at the bottom of the hole. But at $150 its a steal!

I was fitted to an EVNROLL EV2 with short slant at their Carlsbad facility. Didn’t like the sound and feel of their insert faced putters on my gamer ball. Amazing results dropping my strokes gained inside 12 ft (tracked with shotscope). And…for a modest $90 bucks I added a plumbers neck shaft and hosel with my preferred pistol grip just in case…
Can’t say enough good things about their putters, service, and professionalism.

I picked up an Evnroll 10 Outback about 5 weeks ago, despite being somewhat ugly I was amazed at how many putts I was making with this putter. The putts I was sinking were from all distances and I think I doubled my season birdie numbers in that short time. It was a 35″ that I installed the Gravity Grip on. I quickly added a 34″ of the same putter that I quickly had lengthen to 36″. I’m 6’7″ the extra length made sense. The 34″ was heavier than the 35″ and Evnroll suggested more weight because of the Gravity Grip. I feel these putters are amazing and I got them both on clearance for half the normal msrp. Great find!

LAB was tested. It just performed poorly, as it does in all the MGS tests. Yet MGS continues to be a shill for LAB golf. So are we supposed to believe the testing, which is their big thing, or not?

I regularly beat my local gang who all have the latest and greatest putters, with my old blade from 30 years ago. And they all switch to something else pretty much all the time whenever there is something new, or because they want to compare. I just kicked the butt of a guy who SWORE the Lab one he got in blue, the smaller head, was legit, and he missed everything, even thought he had been fit for it.
These “best of” type reviews are all completely meaningless because they are not tested on regular people and players on various terrains and courses with different turf and speeds

According to your recent article, LAB is the “next big thing.” Why isn’t it included here?

Why wasn’t LAB tested alongside the blades & mallets?
