When we did our 2024 best golf putter testing, we split it into two groups: blades and mallets. We tested 39 blade putters and 46 mallet putters. Our testers hit a total of more than 40,000 putts with these 85 models. To determine the best golf putters of 2024, we looked at performance from five, 10 and 20 feet. If you think it’s time to put a new putter in your bag, look at the best golf putters in 2024.
Best Blade Putters 2024

The top three best blade putters of 2024 were the Evnroll Neo Classic ER2, Zebra Black Milled Series 003 and the T-Squared TS-912. Each of these putters demonstrated solid performance from five, 10 and 20 feet.
While the Evnroll Neo Classic ER2 is as good as you can get from five and 10 feet, it fell slightly behind for the 20-foot range. T-Squared, a new addition to the 2024 test, had the highest score from 10 feet.

❌ Newer golfers who don’t have distance control figured out: With average performance from 20 feet, new players should look for something that simplifies distance control.

What to look for in the best putters of 2024
Putter fittings are just as important as iron or driver fittings. However, if you want a little insight into what you should look for in a new putter, here are some of the most important things we learned in our testing.
Performance is more important than appeal
Our testing results are based on performance. However, we still ask golfers which putters they like the best. There was no consistent link between the ratings for look, sound and feel and a putter’s effectiveness.
A perfect example is the T-Squared TS-912. It’s the best overall putter from 10 feet, regardless of putting stroke or handicap, yet it has low subjective appeal. You’ll have to find a putter that appeals to you so you love it but if you want lower scores, go with the one that performs the best.
Customization is important – It’s easier to find with a mallet

Customization will help you find the type of putter and model that suits your needs. However, blade putters rarely come with different hosel types, making it harder to tweak the putter design to your needs. PXG, COBRA and TaylorMade offer some variations but a mallet is better if you want more personalized choices in the putter you put in your bag.
Matching to your putting stroke is not as important as performance data
A quick way to determine if you are a blade vs. mallet putter golfer is to look at your type of putting stroke. The “arc” stroke gravitates towards the blade-style of putter and the mallet was best for a “straight back/straight through” stroke.
New models offer more forgiveness and better technology than older models making it easier for you to choose a putter based on performance alone and not worry so much about the design of the clubhead.
There’s more to come with zero torque putters
We have completely changed our putting testing over the years to make it more extensive and to focus on performance from each distance. However, traditional blade and mallet putters may be a thing of the past. We’ve updated our putting testing so we can look at everything from stability to off-center strikes. Stay tuned in 2025, and read more about the zero-torque putters here.

I just picked up the Cleveland Retreve putter and so far I couldn’t be happier. I have been sinking putts with confidence and those putts that I missed where because I read the green wrong (usually overreading breaks).
The only disappointment so far is that it doesn’t always pick up the ball at the bottom of the hole. But at $150 its a steal!
