First Versus Worst Mallet Putter 2025 (What’s The Difference?)

What separates the best mallet putter from the worst? Quite a bit. For our 2025 Most Wanted Mallet test, we used PuttView’s new scoring system to evaluate performance on short, medium and long putts. The results produced a clear winner and a surprising last-place finisher. Here’s how the best mallet putter, the Wilson Infinite Buckingham, stacks up against the worst, the Evnroll V5.2.

What do these putters have in common?

Despite the price gap, the Wilson Infinite Buckingham and Evnroll V5.2 share some key design traits.

  • Milled Face: Each uses precision milling to enhance feedback and roll quality.
  • High MOI Design: Both use winged mallet profiles for stability and forgiveness.
  • Alignment Aids: Each features a clear visual alignment system for better setup.
  • Multiple Length Options: Both are offered in 33-, 34- and 35-inch lengths.

What makes the Wilson Infinite Buckingham so much better?

The Wilson Infinite Buckingham is the best-performing mallet putter of 2025. Its performance on medium-length putts is really what sets this one apart. If you can make a few more medium-length putts, it has a big impact on your score and that’s why we value that medium putt length so highly in testing.

Wilson was second overall for medium putt lengths and Evnroll was 32nd.

While Wilson’s medium putt length scores were its best, it was also strong on long putts. Testers consistently described it as “easy to control” and “confidence-building.” Previous Wilson models have quietly performed well in our tests so this $129 putter taking first place wasn’t entirely shocking.

The Evnroll V5.2 struggled from all distances, finishing in the bottom half of the test regardless of the putt length. The performance just isn’t there.

The only major issue golfers had with the Wilson Infinite is its look. It’s not the best-looking mallet putter tested but it did get the ball in the hole.

Which one is the better value?

Buying a new putter shouldn’t be only about the cost. However, paying a premium price for a putter that doesn’t perform doesn’t make sense. The Wilson Infinite Buckingham is by far the better value. It’s $300 less than the Evnroll and outperforms it in every category. No wonder it also won the best value mallet putter of 2025.

After getting the general specs (length, lie angle, etc) determined, I bought so many putters last year in a quest to find THE putter for me. Out of all those putters of different types and combinations (expensive, affordable, mallets, blades, heavy, not so heavy, light, double bend, plumber, slant, etc) I found Evnroll v5.2 with weights taken out to be the best at distance AND direction, period. Coincidently, for my testing, the first putter I bought was Cleveland HB Soft Milled 4 because it was supposedly the best one according to this very website. How funny.

A new Buckingham arrived Tues and played first round the following day. FWIW, had only one 3-putt which happened on the 16th hole when I was feeling some heat fatigue (senior citizen in FL). It was only a 3 footer and I just got sloppy and rushed the putt. I had been consistently making anything under 5 feet prior to that. Don’t want to say the putter is magic but it sets up easily for me and instills confidence. Have been playing classic Pings (Anser 2 & B60) for last 20 years so the Buckingham is a major change for me. Still dialing in feel for better distance control but no regrets at this time.

BTW, if you are veteran, order directly from the Wilson website and receive a discount. An American company that values Americans that have served!

Forgot to mention I sunk a 20 footer on the last hole. Great way to finish first round with the Buckingham!

Top result for Wilson. It’s certainly not a looker, but the results shock a few of the big money players

I absolutely love my Buckingham. Reliable and predictable, and it didn’t break the bank.
