Best Golf Bags for Walkers

There are two types of walkers: those who push and those who carry. The golf bags needed for both of these situations can vary. We tested a total of 70 cart and stand bags in 2024 and while our stand bag test focuses heavily on walkability, we did find a few cart bags that are a great fit if you plan to walk and push your bag. If you want to spend more time walking the course, here are the best golf bags for walkers.

Callaway ORG 14 (Best for pushing)

Who Is It For?

✅ Players who push their bags: The Callaway ORG 14 is the best golf cart bag for walkers who use a push cart.

Golfers who need storage. The ORG 14 has a large amount of storage and plenty of pockets for your golf gear.

Who Is It Not For?

❌ Anyone who does not like 14-way tops: The ORG 14 features a 14-way divider top.

❌ Players who want something ultra-light: Even though the Callaway ORG 14 is the best for walking, it’s not the lightest cart bag of 2024.

Why Buy

In our best golf cart bag testing, walkability isn’t a key focus of the test. If you are shopping for a cart bag, you’ll likely take a golf cart often. However, more walkers find that cart bags sit better on the push cart and offer more room for all their gear. If you are a walker who pushes your bag, the Callaway ORG 14 is your best bet.

In addition to being the best golf cart bag for pushing, the Callaway ORG 14 was just one of the best golf bags of 2024, period. Testers loved the large pockets and zippers and the putter well is plenty large enough to accommodate a putter with a bigger grip.

The Lowrider 2.0 top seamlessly integrates the bag with a push cart. It also has plenty of extra storage for golf balls, rain gear, etc.

Score: 9.4

Callaway Fairway 14 (Best stand bag for pushing)

Who Is It For?

The golfer who wants plenty of pockets. The Fairway 14 is not just great for storage. It has a ton of great pockets.

Someone who pushes more than carries. The Fairway 14 can be used for walking but it’s not our favorite due to its heavier weight and larger size for the golfer who exclusively carries their bag.

Who Is It Not For?

❌ Players who only carry their bags: There are better bags on the market if you plan to carry only.

❌ Anyone who doesn’t want a 14-way top: The ShaftShield Top was highly rated by testers but if you prefer just a few dividers, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

Why Buy

The Callaway Fairway 14 is like a hybrid golf bag. It’s equally good for walking, riding and pushing. If you plan on throwing this one on a push cart, it features the Lowrider 2.0 tech so it will attach well and sit properly on your push cart.

Testers loved the large carry handle and adjustable straps on days when they wanted to carry the bag. It also has rubberized dividers that make it easy to get clubs in and out.

One of the issues we found with the bag was the stand system. The legs are a little short and some testers had concerns about stability if the weight gets heavy.

Score: 9.2

Vessel Player Air (Best golf bag for walking)

vessel air player

Who Is It For?

✅ Someone looking to walk the course every time: The Vessel Player Air is the best walking bag thanks to its comfort and lightweight construction.

The golfer who cares about storage. Even though the Vessel Player Air is lightweight, it still has plenty of storage for accessories and more.

Who Is It Not For?

❌ You want great zippers: The New lightweight material of the Vessel Player Air sometimes makes the zippers a little stickier.

Why Buy

When we test golf bags, one of our ratings is walkability. We look at things like weight and size, strap design, adjustability and even the placement of padding on the hip. The best carry bag should be comfortable and easy to walk with.

The Vessel Player Air was the best overall golf bag for walking.

Even though the Vessel Player Air is not the lightest bag in the test, it has great pockets, good features and comfortable straps. Testers loved the magnetic rangefinder pocket and the new lightweight construction.

There were some issues with the zippers not moving as smoothly as we’ve seen on other Vessel bags.

Score: 9.2

OGIO Fuse

Who Is It For?

✅ Someone looking for comfortable straps: The OGIO Fuse has the most comfortable straps of any stand bag in 2024.

The golfer who carries a lot of golf balls. The ball pocket on the OGIO Fuse is huge.

Who Is It Not For?

❌ Players who want something very light: The OGIO Fuse is not heavy at around five pounds but it’s not the lightest in the test.

❌ Golfers who want maximum club protection. The four-way top isn’t going to help protect golf clubs as much as a 14-way top.

Why Buy

The OGIO Fuse is another great stand bag option if you spend a lot of time walking. It had the most comfortable straps of any stand bag in our testing this year. The wide foam-molded double shoulder strap with Fit Disc self-balancing strap system was by far the best we saw.

We also loved the water bottle pocket and the OGIO Fuse’s ample storage. It has a four-way top with full-length dividers.

Score: 9.2

I love a lighter carry bag, but the obsession with half a lb of weight is insane. If you’re carrying 14 clubs, water, and even a small bit of gear, 8oz of bag weight isn’t nearly as important as things like strap configuration and convenience of pockets while walking.

The weight of a carry bag is not a factor. Your clubs and gear added to the bag dwarf the weight of the bag, whichever bag it is. Get the bag that works best for you otherwise rather than a bag you hate but it’s “1pound lighter.”

I was just going to say – this Vessel is a POS. It’s a poser bag and it’s definitely NOT for carrying for 18 holes. Way too heavy and bulky.
And that price!!!! For a carry bag!!!!

I may be a lone wolf on this, but I won’t use a bag that’s much over 4 lbs; my current go to is a Titleist Players 4 carbon, which replaced a Ping Craze lite (glad to see that on your list). Even though I only occassionally carry (usually push a Big Maxx cart), I don’t want ANY extra weight. Even a couple of extra pounds makes a difference. As for riding, both these bags work just fine strapped to a cart. Take care.

DITTO ! I have a collection: Titleist Players 4–3.7 lbs (two special editions-Team Titleist and British Open), and Sun Mtn 2.5+–2.9 lbs. All of which weigh less than the POS Vessel, the Sun Mtn, nearly half the weight !
