Every year, iron technology evolves, and 2025 was no exception. MyGolfSpy’s Most Wanted testing put more than 60 sets of irons through thousands of shots to uncover the true top performers. From forgiving super game-improvement models to compact player’s irons, the results reveal which clubs deliver distance, which prioritize accuracy and which offer the best overall balance.
Whether you’re looking for more forgiveness, extra yardage or a precision-first design, this guide breaks down the best irons of 2025 in all four categories.
The 2025 Super Game Improvement iron test showed just how far this category has come. While Wilson’s DYNAPWR Max grabbed the top spot with a balanced all-around performance, the Tommy Armour 845+ impressed as a strong value pick, and the Callaway Elyte X stood out for raw distance. Overall, the results highlight that golfers don’t have to sacrifice forgiveness to find accuracy or distance in today’s SGI designs.

The Wilson DYNAPWR Max claimed the title of Best Overall. It delivered exceptional consistency across all scoring metrics (accuracy, distance, forgiveness), earning scores of 8.8 for both accuracy and distance and 8.6 for forgiveness, with an overall review score of 8.7.
Testers praised its reliability and feel and said that even the misses perform.
If you’re looking for a super game‑improvement iron that doesn’t excel in only one specific area, but delivers solid, reliable performance across all dimensions, this is your top pick.

In addition to the top five best super game-improvement irons, there were also some category winners that dominated. You’ll see the Tommy Armour 845+ appear here several times.
The 2025 Game‑Improvement iron test shows a mix of power and precision across the top results. While Callaway Elyte HL claimed the top spot with standout all-around performance, Mizuno JPX 925 Hot Metal registered as a balanced runner-up and Callaway Elyte impressed with its distance.

The Callaway Elyte HL secured the Best Overall title, earning an 8.8 in accuracy, 8.6 in distance, 8.8 in forgiveness, equalling an 8.8 overall rating.
Testers praised its soft sound, responsive feel and confidence-inspiring high launch.

In addition to the top five performers, several irons stood out in individual categories.
There were 21 player’s distance sets included in our 2025 testing. Orka RS1X took Best Overall on the strength of elite accuracy and top-tier distance for the category. Mizuno JPX 925 Hot Metal Pro led in pure distance and TaylorMade P•770 set the forgiveness bar. You can now get speed and dispersion control in compact, better-player shapes.

The Orka RS1X claimed the title of Best Overall, finishing second in accuracy and inside the top five for distance. That balance helped it earn one of the highest overall scores in the entire test.
Testers noted how reliable the RS1X felt, praising its consistent dispersion and surprising pop for a player’s distance profile. If you want an iron that combines precision with playability in a clean, classic shape, the RS1X stands at the top of its class.

In addition to the Orka RS1X, there were a few other irons that stood out for their individual performance in specific categories.
The 2025 Player’s Irons test offered a comprehensive look at compact, performance-oriented irons. Srixon ZXi7 rose above the field with its accuracy, distance and forgiveness, while PXG 0317T and Orka RS10 CB grabbed runner-up and third-place honors. Player’s-style irons in 2025 offer precise control with solid forgiveness—no more sacrificing playability for looks.

The Srixon ZXi7 claimed Best Overall Player’s Iron with an impressive mix of tight accuracy, strong distance and reliable forgiveness. It consistently ranked near the top in every metric, which separated it from the rest of the field.
Golfers praised the ZXi7 for its soft feel and “stupid accurate” dispersion, noting it delivered both confidence and consistency.

Here are a few more of the best player’s irons of 2025 and who stood out.

Perhaps Ping, Titleist and much of Taylormade aren’t on the list as it is an off year for their release but not including them puts a question mark on the validity of the tests.

Perhaps you could go to the actual results and since you don’t like to read, you could just copy the link to ChatGPT and ask it to read the article for you and give you the answer. My goodness people are lazy. They address comments like yours every year in their article.

Not lazy, but if the article isn’t clearly written maybe they should have run it through ChatGPT to make their bias a little less obvious and address mass market concerns about the validity of their results. My goodness, people are presumptuous…

Anyway to compare the two sets of categories together?
SGI and GI together and both Players and Players Distance?
I imagine there might be some overlap?

It is mega frustrating if I take a look at the PDI ranking as a Lh player. Three of the Top5 do not offer the clubs for LH players.😡

HONMA still consistently making great clubs after all these years huh. Surprising but not surprising???

Honma consistently make the best, premium irons. I love my set of TR20p irons even after 5 years. Pricing has always kept the masses from giving them a try, but this new series is more reasonable. I promise you won’t find a better feeling iron than Honma. Premium Japanese quality.

If you go to the bottom of the article and click on the link to the Players Irons testing, and then scroll down to the bottom, there is a complete list of irons that were tested. On p. 2 of that list the Titleist T100 irons appear. So they were included. Just not in the top 5 finishers.

Disappointing not to see the Titleist irons on your list…. :-(

No testing love for the Cobra 3DP Tour irons?

very surprise to see that neither titleist neither taylor made nor ping are in these podium when they are tools for the majority of tour players as amators and week end players …

Many players play these since the Pro’s play them and should not even think about playing them. Smart golfers will check out all the options.

Titleist makes irons for all levels. They’re not only making muscle back irons now. Old myths die hard.

Tour players get paid to play.
And they also like being pampered at fittings and fancy exhibition type shows and VIP outings 😂 and almost the same goes for top amateurs who get given the equipment for free as part of their sponsorship

I didn’t see one Titleist iron on your lists…Were Titleist irons used in your testing?
