Top 5 Longest (and Shortest) Golf Balls For High Swing Speed Golfers

If you’ve been waiting for golf ball results because maximizing distance at higher swing speeds is your priority, this is the breakdown you’ll want. The 2025 Golf Ball Test, presented by UNRL, measured every ball under fast-speed conditions to see which models held up best under power and which ones came up short.

If you’re looking for pure speed optimization, these are the top five longest and shortest golf balls for high swing speed players in 2025.

Longest golf balls for high swing speeds 2025 (Irons)

The longest balls off irons were TaylorMade Tour Response, Bridgestone TOUR B RXS and Maxfli Tour S. Interestingly, several of the longest balls off drivers, like the Chrome Tour Triple Diamond and Wilson Staff Model X, fell near the bottom of the iron distance rankings.

Among firmer “tour-caliber” models, the PXG Xtreme Tour, Vice Pro and Srixon Z-STAR XV stood out as long and high-flying. Golfers on a budget might also look to the Pinnacle Rush or Srixon Soft Feel, which produced surprising iron yardage even at high speed.

Longest golf balls for high swing speeds 2025 (Driver)

The longest balls off the driver were the Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Diamond, PXG Xtreme Tour and Bridgestone TOUR B X.

Although the Titleist Pro V1x Left Dash is still among the fastest and longest balls overall, it has been knocked out of the very top spot compared to past years. Among ionomer models, the Titleist Tour Soft proved to be the longest.

High swing speed golfers chasing distance with more spin should look to the Srixon Z-STAR DIAMOND or Bridgestone TOUR B X, while those wanting a flatter, lower flight can lean on the Chrome Tour Triple Diamond or Titleist Pro V1x.

Overlaps and insights

After looking at the longest and shortest golf balls for high swing speed players, here are a few interesting things to note:

  • The TaylorMade Tour Response delivered standout iron distance and driver distance. That combination can be rare for a softer urethane design and makes it an option for fast players who like a softer feel but don’t want to give up yardage.
  • The TOUR B X was one of the longest in the driver test while the TOUR B RXS trailed by nearly 10 yards off the tee. That’s a huge gap inside the same family so high-speed players must choose the right model for their launch and spin needs.

I’m surprised the Srixon Z-Star XV wasn’t among the longest. How did it do?

Golf balls that Failed? Sounds more like clickbait article. While some of the balls in this grouping were not as long as others, I wouldn’t consider them failures.

I prefer to use yellow balls, does the colour have a difference in distance and ball reaction as in the same ball make in white or orange?

I don’t find any difference in white nor yellow Pro-Vs as far a performance nor cover wear. What I did find is that you should always tee up whatever color ball is not used on the course’s driving range. It sure speeds up play. Have you hit a slightly errant ball on the hole nearest the driving range and then tried to locate YOUR ball amongst 100 or so range balls that all look the same?

Imagine how much longer Rory would be if he switched from a TP-5x to a Tour Response. Although the ball might not last more than 1 hole once he hits it with an iron because the cover would come off.

Your data looks reversed based on the distance numbers. Low speed drivers going 318? I wish.

Wouldn’t have guessed that the Tour S would be longer than the Tour.

Should that second heading be for high swing speed off driver? I can’t imagine any slow swing speed is hitting 310-328 no matter what the ball is. Would also be weird to test high swing speed iron distance with low swing speed driver.
