If you’ve been waiting for golf ball results because distance is what matters most to you, this is the information you’ll need. The 2025 Golf Ball Test, presented by UNRL, measured every ball under mid-speed conditions (~102 mph driver, ~80 mph iron) to see which models delivered the most distance and which lagged.
Some of the shortest balls excelled in spin and control around the greens. There’s always a trade-off, but these are the top five longest and shortest golf balls for mid swing speed players in 2025.
The longest golf ball for mid-iron shots was the Pinnacle Rush at 161.20 yards. On the other end, the Srixon Z-Star Divide landed at just 146 yards, 15 yards shorter.
The average iron distance across all balls for mid-speed golfers was 154.46 yards. That means the longest performers were nearly a full club longer than the shortest. For players in this swing speed range, choosing the right ball can make the difference between clearing a front bunker or coming up short.
As we’ve mentioned throughout testing, finding the right golf ball includes looking at spin, launch and height.
| Longest Balls (yds) | Distance | Shortest Balls (yds) | Distance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pinnacle Rush | 161.2 | Srixon Z-Star Divide | 145.7 |
| Callaway Supersoft | 161.0 | Mizuno Pro S | 146.5 |
| Vice Pro | 160.3 | Member’s Mark Pro Series 2 | 147.0 |
| TaylorMade TP5 | 158.8 | Bridgestone Tour B RXS | 148.0 |
| Callaway Chrome Tour X | 158.5 | Srixon Q-Star Tour | 148.1 |

At mid swing speeds off the tee, the Maxfli Tour X led the way at 289.39 yards. That’s almost 15 yards longer than the Srixon Z-Star Divide at 275.00 yards.
The test average across all balls was 282.79 yards. As expected, firmer, lower-spin models dominated the top of the list, while softer and higher-spin offerings filled the bottom.

I am a high swing speed player. Hit a drive with a supersoft that I found on the course for funsises. I’m shocked at how far they go. Longer than left dash and Maxfli x every time. No idea how this is possible.
