Every year, the search for the right golf equipment can seem close to impossible with the number of options, styles and promises of a bigger and better game…even from a pair of shoes.
With about seven million women in the game just in the U.S., companies are starting to catch on that women’s golf shoes are a priority.
For those of you searching for your mom, sister, daughter or girlfriend, we tried on a lot of what the industry has to offer in the spikeless shoe department and there are some stars in the lineup. But a few didn’t fair as favorably.
Here are a few simple tips to keep in mind when searching for the right women’s spikeless golf shoe.
In testing, we found that traction was a concern with ladies, especially those with a higher swing speed. While a spikeless shoe can seem like it won’t keep your grounded through your swing, some of 2023’s top performers excelled with keeping you glued where it matters, even in damp conditions. Looking for better traction, no matter the weather? Give the adidas Solarmotion BOA a peek or the Ecco S3 for a swampier round.
Some of this season’s higher-priced items didn’t take a spot on the leaderboard. When finding the best shoe for your budget that will also provide performance, check out the Inesis WW500s or adidas W Codechaos 22s.
If you’re a player who has a wider or more narrow foot than the average person, take note of which shoes are available in a variety of widths and sizes. Testing shows that, no matter the structure of your foot, a slightly wider toe box allows for a more stable swing and more comfort. If you’re curious about finding a better fit, the Payntr X003s and Skechers Go Golf Max 2s might be your best purchase.

This was the year we felt manufacturers took into consideration that Ecco had been leading the pack when it came to utilizing materials like GORE-Tex and similar waterproof materials.
The NIKE Ace Tour React earned the highest mark in inclement weather with their new mudguard wrapping that seals out morning dew or the remnants of an overnight storm. The Ecco S3 is the next most reliable shoe in dicey conditions.
True to size? Half a size too small? A tad too big? The fit of your golf shoe is essential when it comes to making your best decision.
Let us be the first to say that brand names and fashion-forward choices don’t always land you in the right pair. Carrie Bradshaw may have had her love affair with Mr. Blahnik but when it comes to walking 18 holes, we need a little more than a kitten heel and a prayer to get us through.
If you’re looking for your most comfortable options, the Skechers Go Golf Max 2 and Go Golf Elite 5 came out on top. For a more modern look, try the Payntr X003 if you’re a player who gets their fair share of steps in from tee to green.
Keeping your ankles secure and allowing for just the right amount of movement is what makes a spikeless shoe valuable. The adidas Solarmotion BOA are a great place to start. Ease of use and dependability from BOA technology keeps you locked in without unnecessary constriction or friction. The Payntr X003 performs in the stability category due to its lace-locking design to keep your heels in place even through some of your most powerful swings.
While it’s possible to find a well-designed, full-featured golf shoe for around $80, most top performers sell for around $150 and up. Golfers who play just a few times a year may be able to find a suitable option for less. Our two cents? Never skimp on comfort to save a buck.
It’s important to consider that women’s and men’s shoes are built with different shapes, fit and weight placement. Women’s shoes tend to have a wider toe box that narrows towards the heel. In addition, the angle of women’s hips (Q-Angle) typically results in different wear patterns (compared to men) as well. This can sometimes mandate different materials and modified designs for women’s options.
Comfort is by far the most important factor, followed by traction. Stability is also an important consideration but different golfers require different levels of security. Only after you have those three considerations covered should style factor into the decision.
BOA and DISC technology are less prevalent in spikeless designs. Some golfers prefer modern closure systems to traditional laces but it’s certainly not a universal choice. In addition, users of BOA and DISC report a tendency for their shoes to loosen throughout their round. Although it’s not a big deal to re-tighten, who wants to worry about it? Also consider that if a shoelace breaks, it’s easily replaceable whereas warranty replacements for other closure systems can take some time.
