Top 3 Most Accurate Wedges

The perfect sand wedge should deliver spin and versatility across various lies. However, the true test of whether a wedge is worth playing is its ability to save you strokes. Our 2024 Best Golf Wedge testing evaluated 26 wedges. For accuracy, we focused on one key metric: Strokes Gained. Hitting the green or getting the ball close to your target is crucial for better scores. The most accurate sand wedge of 2024 is the Titleist Vokey SM10, followed by the TaylorMade Milled Grind 4 and the COBRA Snakebite X.

1. Titleist Vokey SM10

Who Is It For?

Golfers who want accuracy: The Titleist Vokey SM10 is the most accurate wedge of 2024.

Players who care about subjective appeal. Performance from Vokey is great but it also had the best subjective feedback from testers regarding looks, feel, sound and likelihood of purchase.

Who Is It Not For?

❌ You are on a budget: If you can’t afford a wedge or set of wedges that retail for $189 each, Vokey is not for you.

Why Buy

Vokey wedges are a household name and some golfers read our wedge testing results only to see how the Titleist Vokey wedges fared. The Titleist Vokey SM10 proved once again in 2024 that it deserves a spot at the top of any best wedges list.

The Vokey SM10 is the most accurate wedge. We tested full-swing and 50-yard shots to determine how close golfers could get to the pin.

The SM10 ranked third overall in the test and placed in the top 10 for consistency and spin in addition to its first-place performance for accuracy.

Although we always recommend buying wedges for performance (not subjective appeal), the Vokey SM10 had the best subjective appeal of any wedge in the test. One tester said, “The feel stands out over other wedges.”

Score: 9.4

2. TaylorMade Milled Grind 4

TaylorMade Milled Grind 4 Wedge Review

Who Is It For?

Players who need to get the ball closer to the hole. The MG4 is the second most accurate golf wedge of 2024.

Anyone looking for consistency. Consistency in wedges correlates to reliability and better distance control. The MG4 is also a top choice for consistency.

Who Is It Not For?

Golfers who are skeptical of TaylorMade wedges: If TaylorMade isn’t the first company that comes to mind when you think about wedges, this one may not be for you. However, in the last few years, the Milled Grind wedges have consistently performed and proven their spot at the top of these test results.

Why Buy

The TaylorMade Milled Grind 4 is one of the best sand wedges of 2024 for accuracy and consistency. These two categories help you get the ball closer to the hole and score. When it comes to spin performance, the Milled Grind 4 isn’t the strongest sand wedge in the 2024 test. However, it did place ninth for spin out of a total of 26 wedges.

Many testers also commented on the Milled Grind 4’s subjective appeal. One said, “Subjectively, I like it more than the other wedges in the test.”

If you are shopping for a sand wedge in 2024 and haven’t tried the Milled Grind, it’s worth a shot. This is the first time the TaylorMade Milled Grind wedges have not won a Most Wanted test in a few years but they are still worth considering for a sand wedge upgrade.

Score: 9.3

3. COBRA Snakebite X

COBRA Snakebite X Wedge

Who Is It For?

Golfers who want more accuracy on full- and half-swing shots. The COBRA Snakebite X had a third-place finish for accuracy.

Anyone looking for better distance control. The COBRA Snakebite X finished fifth for consistency. It’s a good sand wedge for anyone trying to dial in their distances.

Who Is It Not For?

❌ Anyone looking for more spin: Ranked 16th overall for spin, the COBRA Snakebite X won’t be your highest-spinning sand wedge.

Why Buy

The COBRA Snakebite X finished third for accuracy and fourth overall in the 2024 wedge testing. Consistency and accuracy were the top performance categories of the Snakebite X sand wedges. Where this wedge struggled a bit was with spin.

In wet and dry conditions, the Snakebite X could not perform with spin numbers we saw from other wedges like the PING S159 or the COBRA Snakebite model. The 16th-overall finish puts the Snakebite X sand wedge in the bottom half of the testing results for spin.

Even with the lower spin rates, the COBRA Snakebite X is still worth trying, especially if you need that combination of accuracy and consistency in your wedge game.

Score: 9.2

That article should have been prefixed with the words “low to scratch golfers only”. Mid to high handicap golfers should avoid all three of those ‘winners’ like the plague – they posses zero forgiveness

They are intriguing…. I’m playing Taylormade mg3’s currently but almost pulled the trigger last spring. They may be next.

How many times is MGS going to repackage the same information and evaluations? It’s redundant, and frankly lazy. So many new items to test but they appear not on the MGS’s radar. And where are the ball labs for the myriad of new offerings in 2024? Time for MGS to get back to its roots and core mission.

The Opus line by Callaway is amazing. I’m surprised it wasn’t mentioned.

When looking for a well performing wedge, I alway go to a Vokey wedge. Have met the master and was fitted by him at a Vokey experiene at Pinehurst. Expect to upgrade to the SM10 56.10S this Christmas. My SM9 is past due replacing. Has some life left and will find a new home elsewhere.
