First Versus Worst Hybrid 2025 (What’s The Difference?)

In our 2025 Most Wanted Hybrid test, we evaluated 18 models for distance, accuracy and forgiveness.

At the top of the leaderboard was the COBRA DS-Adapt, earning the highest overall score thanks to its unmatched accuracy and balanced performance across every key category. At the bottom sat the Callaway Elyte, which struggled to keep pace in forgiveness and overall consistency.

Here’s how the first versus worst hybrids of 2025 compare.

What do these hybrids have in common?

When we compare the first versus the worst in any category, it’s best to start with common ground. In this case, both the COBRA DS-Adapt and Callaway Elyte hybrids are designed for golfers who want help launching the ball easily from a variety of lies while maintaining forgiveness on off-center strikes.

Both feature adjustable hosels, modern multi-material construction and confidence-inspiring profiles at address.

Why is the COBRA DS-Adapt so much better?

While many hybrids lean into one specific strength (distance, accuracy or forgiveness), the COBRA DS-Adapt delivers all three.

Accuracy: 8.9 (highest overall)
Distance: 8.6 (top five overall)
Forgiveness: 8.8 (top five overall)

It produced consistent results across every scoring category, ranking near the top for dispersion and carry consistency. That combination of speed, accuracy and forgiveness made it the most complete hybrid of 2025.

With 33 loft and lie settings through its FutureFit33 hosel, the COBRA DS-Adapt can be precisely tuned for trajectory, spin and gapping. It’s one of the most versatile hybrids ever in MyGolfSpy testing.

By comparison, the Callaway Elyte struggled to keep up. Its overall score of 8.2 ranked last in the test, held back by lower accuracy and forgiveness. The Elyte showed more shot-to-shot variation and less stability on off-center strikes, clear reasons why the DS-Adapt stood out as the year’s best hybrid.

Which is the better value?

The COBRA DS-Adapt Hybrid retails for around $299 while the Callaway Elyte costs slightly more at $319.

That $20 difference might not seem like much but the performance gap between these two hybrids is significant. The DS-Adapt earned higher marks in every major category. It’s the better value.
