Scores are derived strictly from ball launch monitor data by way of our Efficiency Values. Efficiency Values are a cleaner version and representation of raw average as they remove certain outliers from the equation.
With this being said, scores are weighted with 50 percent of the score coming from accuracy metrics, 25 percent from our distance metrics and 25 percent from our forgiveness metrics. You can reference the specific metrics within each scoring category in the previous heading section.
With our iron tests, we stress the importance of accuracy. It is the most important metric as hitting greens should be your number one priority.
Finally, we reserve a very small percentage of the score to account for things like fitting considerations, excessive amounts of outliers and other details that fall outside the scope of the data.

These ratings are getting silly. I used to respect these , but how can we when several major iron beads are missing. #2 Giving an iron a higher rating for distance, when you know those irons just have jacked up lofts??! You have to adjust that rating for the iron loft.

interesting- my results from the Wilson Xb were more pronounced, 73 yrs with a slower swing speed, club head speeds the same, the ball speed was 5mph higher then my ZXi5 same weight KBS graphite shafts. With corresponding leap in carry distance and noticeable tighter dispersion. be interesting to see if other with slower swing speeds had similar results

What the heck- no Mizuno Pro’s (M13, S3. S1), no Miura’s (TC-202, MC-502), no Callaway (X Forged), no Proto Concept (C01 TB, C03 TB), no Cobra (3DP MB, 3DP X, 3DP Tour), etc.??? Something seems amiss with this test. And to top it off, LA Golf is in golfing’s equivalent of purgatory (if not already DOA).

This is an ‘interesting’ result… If my memory serves me correctly, the Srixon ZXi7’s won this category last year, in a field that included the Titleist T150s. Wondering how such a performance gain occurred when neither brand has released new iterations of their irons ($$$?)?

What’s the point in using a top ball in the exercise when most middle to high handicaps have swing speeds

Would have really liked to see Avoda Origins included this year. I appreciate there needs to be a line somewhere, but given the play on tour it would have been nice to see how they stack up in MGS testing.

Still like the sub 70 selection and ability to get what you want be it 7 to Aw or 4 to 9 iron what ever with shaft lie and length so many choices. I demoed 4 different Sub 70 irons also and found a lot of difference (for me) between heads with my favorite shaft. May help others.

As a Wilson fan, it’s kinda interesting to me that the CB and XB numbers are virtually identical across the board (aside from spin) with the CB generating more ball speed than the “distance” XB?

Did you include last year’s winner? Were shafts consistent? Why not New Level tested? Finding your club tests more and more suspicious.

The Srixon was less than 2 yards shorter on Carry and Total distance than the T150 and that translates into 0.6 difference in distance score (9.7 vs 9.1)? Are the differences in dispersion circles equally small?

Looking at the scores in the data table surely you would prefer an iron that was performed well consistently across the board such as the Srixon ZXi7?
8.9 accuracy
8.8 forgiveness
9.1 distance
The 2 models above it in the table have larger gaps between each category. Personally I would prefer a well rounded iron.

I was fitted for the T150’s in March. I can honestly say they have already been by far the best irons I have owned. My last 6 competitions, out of 7, have been a counting score on WHS, and I’ve come down 1.2 strokes. Feel, distance control, turf interaction, consistency, little offset and jsut look beautiful behind the ball. Look decent in the bag too.
