What do these irons have in common?

At first glance, the Vice VGI01 and Toura SCB-1 couldn’t be more different. One is built for distance and plays like it’s from another category. The other is a classic, compact iron with elite control but less pop off the face.

• Both have clear trade-offs: Vice delivers distance but sacrifices control. With accuracy and forgiveness scores of 8.2 and 7.8, it leaves some performance on the table for players who miss the center. “Too hot” was a phrase we heard from testers. Toura is the opposite, with outstanding consistency, but it ranked dead last in distance.
• Both are reasonably priced: Neither model broke the $800 mark, with Vice listed at $799.99 and Toura at $750. Many irons in the player’s category are well over $1,000.

How much longer is the Vice?

Now for the question everyone wants to know the answer to: How much distance do you give up to gain accuracy and consistency? In this case, the Vice VGI01 averaged about seven yards longer across the bag than the Toura SCB-1.

The Vice also flew slightly lower, producing a flatter, more penetrating trajectory. For some golfers, that kind of distance gap is a dealbreaker. For others, the added control and forgiveness of the Toura might be worth the trade.

What did testers say?

With the Vice VGI01, reactions ranged from “explosive” to “almost too hot,” with several players mentioning they’d never seen that kind of speed from a club that looks this compact. One tester even said they’d take it on the course immediately, despite some concerns about distance control.

The Toura SCB-1 earned praise for its feel and consistency. Testers highlighted how repeatable it was across the set, especially in longer irons, and noted how well it handled mishits. Nearly everyone mentioned it played noticeably shorter than expected.
